The descriptive study sought to describe the “DEVELOPING THE NUMERACY

SKILLS OF THE PRESCHOOLERS THROUGH THE USE OF GAMES”. Specifically,

it answered the following questions; what is the demographic profile of the respondents

such as to age, gender and their years of teaching. What are the preparations of teachers
vi

in teaching Math subject? How are games utilized in the development of numeracy skills

among preschoolers: before the lesson proper, during the lesson proper and after the

lesson proper. Lastly, what are the effects/impacts of games in the development of

numeracy skills among preschoolers: Number and Number sense, Geometry, Patterns and

Algebra and Measurement.

The data were gathered through survey questionnaires and unstructured interviews.

These data were analyzed through statistical analysis, such as frequency, percentage and

weighted mean. The respondents of the study were the twenty-one (21) public preschool

teachers in the district of Sta. Ana, Pampanga.

It is hoped that the findings of the study would be a humble contribution in the

improvement of our educational system specifically in the Preschool Education Program.

It is likewise recommended that the games should be developmentally appropriate within

the interest and needs of preschoolers developed numeracy skills, hence be utilized by

preschool teachers.
