1 Peter 1:3-4

Dearly beloved, we meet here now in the presence of God that we may
recognize His call upon those of our fellowship into leadership positions
within God’s church. This servant of God called to this responsibility of
stewardship – not merely to be servants of men – but primarily to be
servants of Christ. They have been duly appointed or assigned to this
place or responsibility and now stand ready to pledge their intent in
fulfilling the duties entrusted to their care. Let us, likewise, pledge our
support of them with encouraging words and prayerful remembrance.

- SCRIPTURE READING:
The word of God says in…. 1 Peter 5:1-4 To the LEADERS (elders) among
you, I appeal as a fellow LEADER (elder) and a witness of Christ’s sufferings who
also will share in the glory to be revealed: 2 Be shepherds of God’s flock that is
under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you
are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to
serve; 3 not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the
flock. 4 And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of
glory that will never fade away.
