Personalised 1st line writing training 3.

To remember:

1. Your lines must be so specific to the person you are sending it to that they would NOT make
sense to anyone other than that person.

2. They must be some sort of compliment about their business/some sort of compliment on
a recent achievement they have hit with their business.

3. Ensure you are sending the email to the correct person which is the owner of the business
(you may need to double check my leads in the sheet such as the owner and their email)

4. You must spell check your work for grammar & spelling mistakes (use grammarly)

5. Lines should only be around 2-3 lines at max - NOT A FULL EMAIL.

6. If you see any business in my G-sheet that does not have a “cart” icon where you can buy
a physical product from their site directly, within just a few clicks, they are not qualified so
delete them.

7. The article/piece of content you find needs to be recent! Nothing older than 24 months.

8. Before writing your lines on a day to day basis you first set up your leads

Example of a perfect first line to use as a template:

Hi Ryan <- Written by me

Loved listening to your interview with Zach on the ‘Boston Speaks Up’ podcast where you
talked about your creative business decision to help medical workers on the frontlines while
keeping Pistol Lake’s factory workers paid - I also can't believe you worked with Steph Curry
for that CoachUp marketing video. Awesome creativity! <--- written by you.

Anyway this made me want to reach <- by me

The above is a perfect 1st line because:

1. It says the name of person the owner of the business did the interview with, which was “Zach
Servideo” AND where the interview was held “on the ‘Boston Speaks Up’ Podcast” (Very
specific already)

2. It mentions the specific topic: “where you talked about your creative business decision to
help medical workers on the frontlines while keeping Pistol Lake’s factory workers paid”

3. It states another specific point made in the interview ABOUT THE BUSINESS which was this bit
“I also can't believe you worked with Steph Curry for that CoachUp marketing video”
(Extremely specific and is about business)

4. Also ends with a compliment “Awesome creativity”

Follow the above structure to write PERFECT first lines!

Here is the formula to stick by

Loved reading the [X] you had with [Y] on [Z] about [TOPIC]. - It was inspiring to learn about
[BUSINESS_RELATED_THING]. [COMPLIMENT]!

If you find a video or podcast episode then obviously you would change the “Loved reading
the...” to either; “Loved watching the..” OR “Loved listening to the...”

[x] gets changed to = interview, blog, feature, article, brand story, linkedin, youtube video or
podcast episode etc etc.
[y] is replaced with the person they had the interview with (or whatever the piece of content
is) = “you had with Zach Servideo”

[z] get replaced with where you found that content ie, the name of the podcast, the name of
the magazine, name of the website, name of youtube channel etc. (Can be shortened to “on
her podcast/on his website/on her channel IF they own that platform).

Writing the lines:

1. Copy their company name + their name and paste it into google
2. You are FIRST looking for these pieces of information in this order:
a. Interviews, podcasts, youtube videos/video interviews, features, blogs, articles
b. Try to look at their about us section to see if they have info about them
specifically or if they have their “story” on their.
c. Mention a specific product and make a point out of it that is business related
not just that you ”like it”
d. Mention a recent post on instagram etc
e. Use their linkedin profile
