WHO IS JILL?
Jill Wendy Dando was an English
journalist, television presenter and
newsreader born in Weston Super-
Mare. She spent most of her career at
the BBC and was the corporation's
Personality of the Year in 1997. At the
time of her death, her television work
included co-presenting the BBC One
programme Crimewatch with Nick
Ross.
Sadly, on April 26, 1999, she got
murdered on her doorstep in Fulham
and the killer is still unknown. Her
legacy now lives on with many schools
across North Somerset creating News
Centers in her name celebrating her life
and spreading good news across the
country and the wider world.
One of Jill Dando's • In an old copy of Worle Community school’s Newspaper ‘Merlin’
dated 28th March 1973 shows a Limerick Jill wrote whilst in her first
first ever Journalism year at Worle school. This was published 18,096 days ago today and
Piece probably helped to start her passion towards journalism.
