 Introduction to the Palmistry

Palmistry is a fortune-telling method based on the examination

of the hand. It's also known as chirology, chiromancy, or palm
reading. The technique has various cultural variations that can be
seen all throughout the world. Chiromancy practitioners are
referred regarded as palmists, hand readers, hand analysts, and
chirologists.
Its practice transcends all cultures, regions, and religions. It can
be found worldwide, with a wide range of cultural influences. As
a result, different schools of this art have different versions of the
analysis done on specific lines of the palm and other aspects of
the hand.
The history of palmistry is unknown. It's possible that it started in
ancient India and expanded from there. The traditional fortune-
telling of the Roma (Gypsies) was most likely acquired from their
original Indian home.
Palmistry is thought to have started in India and spread
throughout China before arriving in Egypt, Greece, and
eventually Europe about 5,000 years ago. There are several
cultural variations to the practice that may be seen worldwide.
Palm reading has been practised for millennia. It's thought to have
started in India, but it has since been discovered worldwide, most
notably in Europe and Greece. Due to their primarily nomadic
nature, the Romani people learned and passed on fortune-telling
abilities, including palm reading, to the rest of the globe.

 Chiromancy and Cheirognomy

Chiro means hand and mancy means divination. The study of the
hand is known as cheirognomy. The skin and texture of the hand
are considered, as well as the flexibility or rigidity of the thumb
and fingers, the length of the digits, and their locations. The
flexibility of the thumb indicates that the person is flexible or
compromising, but the rigidity of the thumb shows that he is
unyielding in his beliefs.
The study of a person's hands, their shape, flexibility, colour and
texture, and how they are utilised, which, in the study of
astropalmistry, suggests specific organ problems.
Cheiromancy is the study of the lines on the palm and their
placement in relation to the mounts on the palm that are
connected with specific attributes. The head, heart, and life lines
are three long & deep lines on the palm that are thought to be the
major lines. The fortune line, the sun line, and the marriage line
are some of the other lines that count in palmistry. A palmist
examines the thickness or fineness of the lines, their position on
the palm, where they begin and stop.

 Choosing Hand for Prediction

The first question that a new palmist asks himself is whether he

should learn the left or right hand.
According to the belief, the left hand represents potential, but
what you've done with that potential is represented by the right
hand.
People in ancient India believed that a man's right hand should be
seen, while a woman's left hand should be seen. Later, it was
suggested that if a man or woman is self-sufficient in terms of
wages and decisions, his right hand should be seen, whereas if they
are reliant on their parents or husband, their left hand should be
seen. Most palmists now believe that the active hand should be
seen, with no distinction made based on age or gender. However,
in current times, both hands are commonly seen as a means of
resolving this protracted conflict, and this has shown to be
extremely beneficial. Nonetheless, the dominant or active hand is
emphasised. The dominant or active hand is the one that writes
and uses the most of the tools. The passive hand is the opposite
of the active hand.
In modern palm reading, gender customs are ignored. In
palmistry, the left and right hands have different meanings. Left is
inborn and right is acquired in palm reading, therefore the left
hand represents your inborn destiny and the right hand represents
your future as influenced by your current acquired environment.
The notion is based on the adage that "people's fate is directed by
God, but fortune is produced by themselves." In other words, the
right palm reading is dominating, accounting for around 80% of
the total, whilst the left palm reading is passive, accounting for
about 20%. As a result, in palm reading, the right hand should be
considered primary, while the left should be considered
secondary.

Because the left and right palms of most people are normally
symmetrical, reading the left or right hand is not difficult. It is
nearly impossible for people to have identical right and left hand,
therefore some variances are to be expected. The secret to
successfully predicting one's fate through palmistry is to make the
right dominant and the left submissive or additional information.
If you hang out with a lot of spiritual people, you're bound to hear
some bizarre notions regarding palm reading and hand selection.
You might hear superstitions about the following things
depending on who you talk to:
Men's right palms were always read, whereas women's left hands
were always read.
Some people believe that left hands should only be read by those
under the age of 30.

prefer to read both the hands. We make major predictions using
right hand and use left hand only to see if it also gives the same

 Types and Shapes of Hand

According to our ancient palmists, there are seven types of unique

hands in palmistry. Hands come in more than 20 different kinds,
according to several palmistry websites and blogs. Hands are
classified as Wood Hand, Fire Hand, Water Hand, and so on in
various texts, particularly in Chinese Astrology.

Size of the Palm:

Before going forward, let us understand what do we mean by the
size of palm. The palm is measured from the wrist line to the root
of the middle finger. A long palm is one in which the proper palm
proportion is longer than the fingers. A short palm is defined as a
palm that is smaller than the size of the fingers. A broad palm is

one in which both sides of the palm protrude far beyond the
breadth of the four fingers, whereas a narrow palm is one in which
the same width is narrower.
The Primary Hand:
A rough looking hand with a thick, shapeless wide palm; short
nails; and small, thick, and rigid fingers is known as primary or
elementary hand. In palmistry, this type of hand is considered to
be one of the lowest states of hands. When provoked, such a
person may become quite aggressive, release his wrath, or even
use force. Those who work hard and participate in violent sports,
like boxing, tend to have this hand. This hand is common among
unskilled workers or those doing menial tasks.

The Psychic Hand:
The Psychic Hand is slim and slender with long fingers. While the
nails are of almond shape, they look to be quite lovely and delicate.
The palm is long, slender, and thin, with a silky texture. Many lines
go through such hands, indicating spiritual routes and
connections throughout life. The Psychic hand is also thought to
be the most beautiful of all hands. Those who have psychic hands
are idealistic and soft by nature, generous, sensitive, and
compassionate. They lack the capacity to apply reasoning to
everyday situations such as business, practicality, discipline and
they do not adhere to rules.

The Psychic Hand

The Conic Hand:
It's a medium-sized hand with a delicate texture and conical
fingers at the end. Its shape is comparable to that of the Psychic
Hand. The nails are also long and this type of hand is known as

the artist's hand by many palmists. It's termed a Conical Hand
because the ends of the fingers are conical in shape. These
individuals have delicate tastes in music, art, and nature. This is
the hand of those who appreciate beauty and the arts. Their
environment has an impact on them. Additionally, they have a
short temper and are impulsive. They are always kind and
understanding, but somewhat self-centered when it comes to their
own comfort. People who work in the arts, such as painters,
sculptors, musicians, and poets, have hands like this.

The Conic Hand

The Philosophic Hand:

The philosophic hand has a long and heavy palm with broad
middle portion and narrow base; long and pointed fingers with
bony and prominent finger joints. They have good balance of
rationality and sentimentality. They have leadership skills, like
exploring new things. But they could also be egoistic and
opportunists. They are generally intellectuals, philosophers, and
thinkers.

The Philosophic Hand

The Spatulate Hand:

This hand has flattened fingers and thumb, that resemble spatula.
The big thumb is the most distinguishing feature. It tapers toward
the fingers from an exceptionally broad base on the palm. The
first phalanges of the fingers (the nail phalanges) are widely spaced
out in the Spatulate hand. The same goes with other fingers. The

joints of the fingers are usually slightly knotted. This kind of hand
has an uneven form and is crooked.
People with the Spatulate Hand are well informed, dexterous,
energetic, enthusiastic, restless, risk takers, and innovators. These
people have an uncanny ability to invent new things and find new
truths and possibilities in life. Such folks have a strong
imagination, but they are also practical.
It is usually seen in engineers, inventors, discoverers, explorers,
and astronauts.

The Spatulate Hand

The Square Hand:

The length and breadth of the overall palm and fingers are more
or less equal in the square hand. The hand's form resembles that
of a square. Such hands also have well-developed mount of venus
(the area below the base of thumb/ thenar eminence) and large
thumb. They also have a smoother appearance and less harsh skin.
The tips of the fingers and the nails are also square in shape. These
are the hands of persons from the working class. They are
endowed with considerable perseverance. These people are
intellectual, thinker, punctual, practical, sincere, honest,
respectful, and peaceful. Though they are not very materialistic,
and value respect and fame more than money; they are good
moneymakers and have strong life finance abilities.
People with such hand are thinkers, psychologists, philosophers,
and artists.

The Square Hand

The Mixed Hand:

Many people may actually have a mixed hand inheriting different
qualities from different types of hand and this is where the reading
becomes little difficult. One may come across a hand that
resembles a psychic hand but also has some characteristics of a
square hand.
Their traits are combination of the traits of the combination of
the hand types they have. However, in general, they are adaptable,
versatile, polymath, and self-centered.

The Earth Hand:

These hands have wide palm and short fingers. People with the
earth hands are polite, humble, down to earth, loyal, cultural, and
shy. They value relationships.

The Metal Hand:

These hands have square palm and square fingers. People with the
metal hands are analytic, confident, vocal, and strong. They are
usually leaders and entrepreneurs.

The Wood Hand:

These hands have long palm, slim fingers, and prominent
knuckles. People with such hands are creative, persistent, short-
tempered and kind.

People with such hands are fast thinkers, quick decision makers,
energetic, ambitious.

These hands have oval palm and short fingers. The people with
such hands are observant but tolerant, adaptive, and trustworthy.

 Reading Nails

The shape of a person's fingernail can be used to read their

personality and luck in palmistry. Obviously, the nail shape is
determined by the type of fingertip, such as whether it is thick or
thin. The nail can vary over time in some situations, for example,
a fan-shaped nail can emerge as a result of long-term health issues
or stress. Palmists have divided the nails into 13 groups based on
structural differences. But before I move forward towards
interpretation, it is important for you to understand that
prediction can’t be done only based on the nails. The hand
including the shape and size of hand, the type of nails, different
lines and others should be read together and the interpretation
should be done with a holistic approach and the meaning should
be contextualized.
1. Short Nails: The nails, which are structurally short,
reveal that the person in question is uncivilised. The
people with short nails may disclose their crude nature
from time to time. Short nails are associated with narrow-
mindedness, weakness, and immoral impulses. However,
it shouldn’t the basis to judge someone, as all these traits
could have been taken care of by the person through
counselling, meditation, mindfulness etc.

2. Short and Pale Nails: People with short, pale nails are
thought to have a malicious nature. The main
characteristics of a person with short and pale nails are
deception, treachery, and fake. According to palmists,
having such nails signifies that the person cheats at every
turn and will deceive his own family members when they
are in need. A person like this can never be trusted. They
are not at all socially responsible.

3. Short and Rectangular Nails: People with such nails
are naturally frightening. They frequently have heart
problems, and their deaths are usually caused by heart
problems as well.

4. Short and Wide Nails: Individuals with short and wide

nails are adamant about quarrelling and are often at war
with others. They get a kick out of criticising and
interfering with other people's work. People with these
types of nails are notoriously stubborn and intractable.
They never change their minds once they've made a
decision, no matter how horrible it is.

5. Hard and Narrow Nails: Individuals with strong,

narrow nails are more likely to be contentious. They will
do whatever they want once they've made up their minds,
whether it's right or wrong, and they don't care.

6. Square Nails: Square nails reflect a person's

vulnerability. Such nails reveal the man's timidity and
cowardice. The person with square nail is always subdued
because he or she is frightened and cowardly. They are
unable to articulate their desires, aspirations, or wishes.
As a result, they are always submissive the majority of the
time.

7. Short and Triangular Nails: The upper tip of the short

and triangular nails is structurally broad, while the bottom
end is structurally thin. Individuals with short and
triangular nails are prone to laziness and inactivity. People
with such nails, according to palmistry, generally avoid
going to work. People with these types of nails are often
isolated from society and lonely.

8. Wider Nails: Individuals with longer nails are prone to
becoming enraged for small reasons. These people, on
the other hand, are steadfast and unwavering. They
consistently return to their task after starting it. They
never stop working on it till it's finished. These people
dislike it when others meddle with their work. They too
suffer from loneliness in certain ways.

9. Short Nails and Knotty Fingers: Short nails and

knotted fingers indicate a quarrelsome personality. Such
people are constantly at odds with others, even over
minor issues. The presence of such nails on a woman's
fingers indicates that she is entirely dominating her
husband. Her combative nature always wins her husband
over.

10. Rounded Nails: People with rounder nails at the tips are
self-assured and confident in their own abilities. These
people are capable of making snap decisions. Individuals
with rounded nails are blessed with quick wit and are
quite adaptive in the face of rapid change. Such
individuals are aware of how to proceed once a decision
has been made.

11. Thin and Long Nails: Frail people are classified as

having thin and long nails, are physically weak, and have
a fickle mind. They lack the ability to stay committed to
their decision. They frequently vacillate, even when the
decision has already been made. As a result, they place a
great deal of reliance on others and follow their
recommendations.

12. Long and Curved Nails: People with long, curved nails
do not have good character. Their primary character

lifetimes, they have received a poor reputation.

13. Perfect Nails: People with flawless nails have lofty

aspirations, are well-intentioned, and are always eager to
progress. The attitude of their living and working is based
on ethical and moral principles and high ideals. They are
successful in every area of their lives.

 Reading Fingers

Reading individual finger can provide fresh insights on the top of

ordinary line reading.
Thumb:
The people with strong, thick thumbs have a very practical view
of money, and they won’t not spend money on items that place
an excessive emphasis on physical pleasures, such as expensive
food and clothing that is not necessary in their opinion. They are
quite realistic, have very basic needs, and keep their promises
rather than plotting.
The people with flat, thin, uneven, and flexible thumbs are
impatient, emphasis on physical pleasures, and entertainment.
The people with relatively longer thumbs usually have
comparatively good fortune, rapid advancement, academic
excellence, and a strong body in youth with greater parental love
and care. They also have greater career assurance, greater initiative
in romantic pursuits, and a constant pursuit of superior love and
existence.
The people with relatively shorter thumbs are realistic and down
to earth. They rely on themselves and often self-made.
Index Finger:
Longer index fingered people tend to be more independent,
assertive, and ambitious, and it is simpler for them to hold
positions of power. Longer index finger people typically have
greater life goals and a larger drive for power; they are brash and
skilled at flaunting themselves in social situations, so they always
have good interpersonal relationships and enjoy dominating

others. Additionally, they are good managers and are prepared to
spend money on the person they love.
A person is tough, pushy, and pompous if their index finger is the
same length as their middle finger. It is challenging for people of
this type to conserve money because they frequently earn more
money and spend excessively. They must therefore curb their
consumption, desire, and waste.
People with shorter index fingers tend to be very envious and are
never persuaded by someone stronger than them, thus they are
driven to outperform the competition.
People who have index finger longer than ring finger are brave,
strongminded, competitive, and selfish.
People who have index finger of same length as ring finger are
possessive, honest, social, intellectual, and good executors.
People who have index finger shorter than ring finger are
judgemental.
Middle Finger:
The middle finger represents a person's fate.
The longer, straighter, and rounder (on the tip) middle finger
denotes success and beneficial outcomes in terms of marriage,
income, and profession.
A person is persistent in their work if their middle finger is short,
oblique, and leans toward their index finger. A person is family-
obsessed if their middle finger leans toward their ring finger.
If the middle finger is relatively short and nearly as long as the
other fingers, it shows that the individual is impatient with their
task and frequently switches once they lose hope for it. People of
this type typically have stable fortune; they have a tendency to be

stuck in love and pay attention to any indications of trouble
because of their intense affection.
A person is impatient and impulsive if their middle finger is
unevenly thick. These types of people must learn to manage their
emotions, as it is simple for them to make decisions that they may
later come to regret.
Ring Finger:
The ring finger symbolises romantic and familial relationships.
When the ring finger leans toward the middle finger, it shows that
the person is highly family-oriented and spends a lot of time with
them; when it leans toward the little finger, it shows that the
person spends a lot of time with the kids.
It is an indication of love for gambling if the ring finger is the
same length as the middle finger. This type of person always gets
excited when they hear about casinos, horse races, and card
games. They like extremely speculative financing techniques and
are very glad to participate in the stock and real estate investment
industries, even though they may not feel completely confident.
They have a relatively keen sense of winning and losing.
People who have somewhat long ring fingers frequently have
unique perspectives on careers and independent goals for the
workplace; they have a tendency to carry out the plan piecemeal
and are less likely to be influenced by outside interference. In the
meantime, they both possess a keen artistic sense and romantic
sentiments for one another.
People with shorter ring fingers are usually unique, and they like
being practical and solid over speculating and taking risks, or

Little Finger:

The little finger is frequently referred to as the second thumb and
represents wisdom, eloquence, and art. Numerous successful
people almost always have little fingers that are longer than the
first knuckle line of their ring fingers. Long, straight, and round
small fingers are typically a sign of highly strong work and
interpersonal skills.
The comparatively lengthy little finger denotes keen observation,
being an ambitious career, a strong desire for acquisition in
romantic relationships, as well as good fortune and a good health
in old age.
Little fingers tend to be shorter in people who are somewhat
straightforward. They have consistent wealth since they are
honest and don't like to have fun at work. Although they
experience intense affection, they struggle with words yet are
incredibly considerate of the people they care about.
The little finger is a symbol of youth and children. If the little
finger is particularly small and bent, it indicates that the children
are weak, and the person is worried about them.

 Reading Fingerprints

The fingerprints may have two main patterns i.e., whorl or loop.
A whorl features a central point and encircling concentric circular
lines. Lines that form a loop either cease abruptly or extend to the
sides of the fingertip.

Whorl

Loop
A person with more fingers with whorls means more senstivity,
whereas more fingers with loops represent directness.
The reader needs to check all the 10 fingers of hand and count
how many whorls and loops a person has in total. There are 5
possibilities.
1. All Whorls:
These people are emotionally sensitive. They are more
interested in making a difference than making money,
which eventually gives them fame.

2. All Loops:
These people are very practical and straightforward. They
usually like to work alone.

3. Half (5) Whorls & Half (5) Loops:

These people have balanced ratio of emotion and
practicality. They are usually successful in personal and
professional lives; however, they may not be satisfied due
to over-ambition.

4. More Whorls (6-9) than Loops (4-1):

People with more whorls than loops are usually
oversensitive. They are ambitious, full of ideas and self-
respect but have insecurities. They have bad temper, they
overthink, and take sometimes impulsive decisions. At
the same time, they may take diligent and careful actions
if given sufficient time.

5. More Loops (6-9) than Whorls (4-1):

These people are confident and popular team players
who like to work smartly. They are happy to be in
leadership roles, however, even if they can’t make it, they
are not much bothered. They usually have good luck.

 Reading Palmistry Marks

There are various marks that can be seen on the lines of palm and
wrist. Each of these marks have different meanings and you need
to interpret them together with the line they are situated upon. So,
let us learn about the meaning of different marks so that they start
making sense to you, no matter on which line of the wrist or palm
they are.

Tridents: The placement of a trident on the palm is highly

auspicious. Any lines or mounts it appears on have their quality
raised. Even the surrounding mountains benefit from it. You will
be fortunate, happy, and prosperous in life as a result of it.
Triangles: Triangles are an incredibly lucky symbol that denotes
great fortune. They demonstrate the person's capacity for
multitasking and their capacity to analyse events efficiently. They
improve the characteristics of the lines where they exist. They may
also represent a spiritual or psychic person. A triangle on the sun
line, for instance, denotes extreme national or international
prominence.

Vertical Lines: Vertical lines typically symbolise positive energy
and are good markers. These lines are not to be confused with
sister lines. Several vertical lines in various places on the palms of
some people are possible. They are a sign of someone who might
work in the medical or health care industry. They diminish or
negate any leftover bad traits if they are present on the mounts or
other lines. A horizontal line being sliced through by them
signifies that you have overcome hardships.
Upward Lines: Branched upward lines can show that you have
successfully navigated some of life's obstacles on your own. They
denote someone who will succeed and accomplish their objectives
over time. They also suggest optimism and a positive attitude on
life. These lines are connected with an optimistic and idealistic
mindset.
Squares: Squares on the palm are protective and beneficial signs,
especially when they appear near line breaks. They represent good
fortune brought about by outside sources, such as one's guardian
angel, guru, or spiritual advisor. However, if a square is on a line
with no breaks in it, it can signify a period of confinement or
captivity.
Breaks: Depending on the way they lay from the various lines,
breaks in the major or minor lines of a palm can reflect both
positives and disadvantages. Breaks pointing in the direction of
the thumb suggest a change in career. Breaks that point upward
and toward the hand's edges imply an unforeseen or impromptu
voyage. If the breaks are pointing to the base of the palm, your
daily routine may take an unexpected turn. These pauses could be
an indication of a disruption in your regular energy flow or a
change in your course in life. Depending on how and where they
are established, breaks are typically diversions or distractions.
Stars: Success and good fortune are indicated by stars on the palm
in the location, mount, or line where they appear. A star at the end

of a line can denote fame and significant achievements. It also
denotes relationship success. However, a star that appears on the
life line can signify a significant upheaval. These stars can suggest
disaster, emotional issues, and a lack of faith in one's work if they
are discovered in a line or mount of Saturn.
Tassels: Tassels, also referred to as frayed lines, signify confusion
or disorder over a specific issue or scenario. A physical, emotional,
or spiritual decline may also be indicated by them. It frequently
appears near the very end of the life line.
Dots: Dots can be quite small and are sometimes difficult to
notice on the palm. Dots stand for worries regarding physical
health, interpersonal connections, or other harmful experiences.
They may also stand in for important and massive occasions that
have brought about a crisis in your life. They serve as danger
indicators for you in your life's path. In my experience, dots have
appeared and then vanished as unfortunate events and problems
were resolved.
Islands: Islands represent negative breaks in life. They denote
moments of stress in one's profession or caused by someone else
because of a terrible relationship. They also portend anxiety and
health problems, particularly genetic heart disease or a disruption
or breakdown of your energies. To confirm that the island does
really end and the lines continue, it is crucial to carefully inspect
the island. The island at the end of the lifeline is hazardous and
can result in instances like suicide.
Chains: Chains represent the various challenges you could
encounter in life. They represent a challenging or less privileged
upbringing in childhood. Additionally, chains in palm lines
represent events in your romantic life. Chains also represent
periods of indecision and health issues. The length of the chain is
related to how long any one of these problems may persist.

Crosses: Crosses are a sign of persistent challenges and problems.
They also stand for significant life changes for you. They even
serve as a warning that few of your enemies wish to hurt you. They
also stand for outside factors that are stressing you out. Crosses
can also be used to predict your mental condition and how you
will approach your spiritual life.
