THE ADDICT’S MOM

The Addict’s Mom (TAM), a non-profit organization. is an online and in-person community that
embraces and connects mothers and other family members struggling with a loved one who suffers
from the disease of addiction. TAM offers members the opportunity for open and honest sharing of
their experiences, sorrows and victories. TAM offers support through our specialty groups: TAM
Grieving Moms, Grandparents Raising Grandchildren, Medication-Assisted Treatment, and Moms of
Incarcerated Children. TAM hosts community events to heighten awareness of addiction. T AM
members advocate, educate, and act as liaisons to policy makers, community leaders and experts in the
field of addiction. The mission of TAM is “Sharing Without Shame.”

Family: This is a family support group. We do have many local members who meet and talk daily. Over
149 members in SC alone, chapters in every state, and over 85,000 Nationwide.

BABYNET

Babynet offers a system of services for infants and toddlers, birth to three years old, who have
significant developmental delays or conditions associated with developmental delays and can include
family education, health services, OT, PT, ST, social work, and special instruction. Parents or family
members who are concerned about any area of a child’s development can self-refer.

Financial: If a child is qualified for services (exhibiting a significant delay in one or more areas), services
are provided at no cost to families, although payor sources are billed when available (i.e. Medicaid,
insurance).

Transportation: Transportation can be provided only for covered services; however, whenever possible

the treatment team.

CENTER OF HOPE OF MYRTLE BEACH, LLC / CROSSROADS TREATMENT CENTER

Center of HOPE of Myrtle Beach is an outpatient Opioid Treatment Program located in Myrtle Beach, SC.
We provide medication-assisted treatment using methadone or suboxone, combined with individual
counseling and group therapy, to help opioid addicted individuals refrain from using illicit drugs. All
individuals will receive an assessment, health & physical, lab work, ECG and physician’s appointment
prior to admission to determine the need for services.

Referrals: With an initial phone call, one can expect to speak with an available counselor on staff. We
do assessments on a walk-in basis on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and intakes on Wednesdays and
Thursdays. For fluency, individuals who have called in advance receive priority.
Pre-requisites: Individuals must have valid form of photo identification and meet criteria for Opioid Use
Disorder.
Transportation: We do not provide transportation, but do provide bus schedules as requested.
Family: We encourage family involvement in patient treatment and provide education to family
members as needed/requested/available.

LITTLE RIVER MEDICAL CENTER

Little River Medical Center provides services that include medical, dental, behavioral and support. They
work with community members, where they are, to address the needs. LRMC is open and primary care
providers are dedicated to helping you receive the care you need. Because our top priority is the well-
being of our patients, visitors and staff, we are taking precautions to keep everyone safe and protected
from possible exposure to COVID-19. All providers, staff, patients and visitors must wear facemasks
when in the facility. If you do not have a facemask, one will be provided for you. We are rearranging
our waiting rooms to encourage physical distancing. At some of our sites, you may be able to wait for

NEW DIRECTIONS

New Directions provides emergency and transitional shelter for up to 236 homeless men, women and
families each night in four Myrtle Beach shelters. More important, New Directions is moving people out
of poverty and homelessness through stabilization (rehabilitation from addiction and chronic
illness/disability; job readiness training), then moving them to independent living by assisting with
permanent housing. To facilitate change, New Directions offers individualized case management and
collaborative efforts with strategic partners who provide expertise in programs that complement New
Directions in providing all services available to help our clients rebuild their lives, become strong and live
independently.

The Addiction Recovery Outreach team is here to combat any substance abuse – no matter what is being
used, we can help. Trained and certified, our team is ready to help when you need them. If you or
someone you know needs help, please call our peer support specialists serving all of Georgetown and
Horry counties. If our team members cannot come to you right away, we will arrange a meeting place to
meet with the individual. You can share our contact information with the person in need of help.

New Journey SDG

New Journey SDG is a private, not for profit (501c3), out-patient adolescent addictions treatment center
for ages 12 to 17. New Journey SDG uses a comprehensive approach that brings together the best of
spiritual principles, modern medical practices, and professional counseling services, all in the same
place. Services include out-patient medical detoxification, medical stabilization, medical exams, full
psychosocial assessments, individual counseling, group counseling, family counseling/interventions,
psychiatric consulting and more. New Journey SDG is a division of Coastal Recovery Center and 836
Ministries.

SC VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION DEPARTMENT

The SC Vocational Rehabilitation Department (VR) prepares people with disabilities to become qualified
candidates for employment by using in-depth assessment, disability management, job readiness courses
and hands-on training. VR has two treatment facilities which specialize in substance abuse services.
They provide residential long-term treatment options for those who enroll in our program. VR also has
a Comprehensive Evaluation Center which assists clients in discovering their potential and helps them
begin developing their vocational strengths and abilities. I f needed, pain management sessions are
available.

Financial: There is no cost for substance abuse treatment at VR’s substance abuse facilities for VR
clients.
Referrals: Clients are referred to substance abuse treatment by VR counselors at any of our area offices
around the state. Treatment is voluntary and participants must be substance free for at least three days
before admission. VR does not provide detoxification services.
Pre-requisites: Each applicant must meet all criteria below to be eligible for vocational rehabilitation
services. They are:
The individual has a physical or mental impairment.
The individual’s impairment results in a substantial impediment to employment.
The individual requires vocational rehabilitation services to prepare for, secure, retain or regain
employment.
The individual can benefit in terms of employment outcome from the provision of vocational
rehabilitation services. VR considers alcohol and substance abuse an impairment.
Transportation: VR can provide transportation assistance to the Palmetto Center, Holmesview Center
and the Evaluation Center.
Family services: Family members who want to provide support can take advantage of visitation and
family therapy or other sessions.
SHORELINE BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES

Shoreline Behavioral Health Services (SBHS) is the Horry County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Authority.
SBHS is a non-profit agency that receives funding, in addition to insurance and client fees, from state
and federal funds designated for the prevention and treatment of substance use disorders. A wide
range of services are provided to individuals and families in the Horry County area and surrounding
counties. Shoreline BHS, in partnership with SC Primary Care Specialists, offers Shoreline clients access
to primary healthcare and evidence-based Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) services for opioid
treatment.

Financial: Individualized payment plans are available for anyone in need. Shoreline accepts Medicaid
and most other insurances. Anyone is eligible for assistance who has a problem with substance use or
other behavioral health issues.
Referral: Referrals are taken from area social service agencies, physicians, etc. and referral information
may be provided there, or potential clients can be instructed to come in during our walk-in hours.
Anyone may walk in for assistance at Shoreline Behavioral Health Services on Monday, Tuesday and
Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and on Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Pre-requisites: Shoreline has no pre-requisites to receive services. When you come in for your first visit,
you will need: Photo Id; Social Security Card; and Health Insurance or Medicaid card. Minors will need a
parent or legal guardian for the enrollment process, (For ADSAP, you must bring OFFICIAL 10 year
driving record showing the violation.
Transportation: Shoreline is generally unable to pay the cost of transportation to our agency or other
places except in certain crisis situations. However, we provide case management services to assist with
barriers to care and can assist in locating needed services like transportation and housing that are
offered by other agencies.
Family: Shoreline is a family service agency and provide relationship counseling, parenting groups,
services for children and other services designed to improve family relationships for the individual
requesting help. Shoreline Behavioral Health Services will accommodate all consumers with visual,
hearing and physical needs; if you or someone you know speaks a language other than English, Shoreline
Behavioral Health Services will provide an interpreter at a scheduled appointment time.

SOBA

SOBA College Recovery’s specific motivation is to help those in a community setting who may have a
problem with substance use disorder (SUD) or other mental health disorders commonly associated with
substance use. At each phase of treatment, clients receive certain levels of care, with a gradual step-
down process proven most effective for recovering adults in this phase of their lives. Throughout
treatment, our clients receive personalized attention and therapeutic care for addiction and the
underlying co-occurring disorders associated with drug use and mental health issues. On staff, we have
Board Certified Addictionologists, Board Certified Psychiatrist, Clinical Psychologist, Nutritionist and
Wellness Coach, Personal Trainer, Discharge and Aftercare Planner, Case Management. We offer sober
housing adjacent to the Rutgers university campus, where we help many of our clients to enroll back
into school there. Soba is a long-term facility with many clients staying one year.

Referrals: No referrals necessary for admission. Referrals will be made for individuals who do not meet
criteria for the program.
Pre-requisites: If a person is in need of detox services we do not provide them, but can assist in getting
you into detox before entering our facility. Persons who are suffering both co-occurring disorders of
substance abuse and mental health disorders are also eligible for services. Individuals will be assessed in
order to make sure criteria for treatment is met.
Transportation: We offer transportation for the clients. We offer planned trips allowing them to get
back and forth to treatment, grocery shopping, meetings, church, pharmacy and group leisure activities.
Family: SOBA College Recovery believes in the primacy of the family. Therapy, safe housing, fun
activities and getting an education are crucial aspects of our program and help improve the lives of our
clients, but maximum recovery happens with family involvement and restoration. We help families heal
so that all members can return to their daily routines without distractions.
SOBA College Recovery offers: A two-part family program every Thursday. In the first group, we
educate family members about boundaries, expectations and the process of treatment. The second
group is a multi-family group, where ground rules are set, confidentiality is explained, and everyone gets
to know each other. Families realize that they are not alone because they meet others who have dealt
with an addicted child or family member. A weekly psychoeducation lesson is followed up by individual
sharing and support. Families get to know each other over the course of several months, and they end
up listening, talking, laughing, crying and rooting for each other. It is a community of families.

WACCAMAW CENTER FOR MENTAL HEALTH

The Waccamaw Center for Mental Health provides outpatient mental health services to children,
adolescents, adults and their families who suffer from mental illness in Horry, Georgetown and
Williamsburg Counties. We provide individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, psychiatric
assessments for medication and ongoing medication follow-ups. We also provide crisis intervention to
those who are in acute crisis and need inpatient hospitalization for mental illness or substance use
issues.

Financial: Many insurances are accepted including Medicaid, Medicare, Managed Care Organizations
and Private Insurance. The Center will work with individuals with no insurance/limited income on
payment plans to pay for services.
Referral: Referrals are screened to determine appropriateness for services and assessed by a mental
health professional to determine type of services needed. Walk-in screenings available from 9am-3pm
Monday through Friday to determine appropriateness for services. Phone screenings also available.
Pre-requisites: Persons who are experiencing a psychiatric crisis, have a history of mental illness or
prior treatment for mental disorders are eligible for mental health services. Persons who are suffering
both co-occurring disorders of mental illness and substance abuse are also eligible for services.
Transportation: The mental health center does not provide transportation.
Family: Family involvement is encouraged in treatment of all mental health center clients and are often
a valuable resource in recovery. If you have a family member who will not/cannot get help for mental
health services or substance abuse treatment, we can assist you in filing a petition with the court to
potentially court order an individual to mental health or substance abuse treatment (outpatient or
inpatient/rehab). This process starts at the mental health center.
