9. ACADEMIC POLICIES
9.2. General Policies on Attendance
Regularity of attendance and punctuality are required in both online and
modular classes. It is important for the students’ academic progress.
Students who have been absent are held responsible for all the activities/
assignments and the entire content of their missed topic regardless of the reason of
absence incurred (2011 Revised Manual of Regulations for Private Schools for Basic
Education).
*Online Learners’ Attendance
The learner must attend his/her synchronous/ real time classes in google
meet/ zoom. In cases of power interruption or unstable internet connection, for him/her to
be considered, he or she must inform his/her teacher via text message the soonest possible.
*Modular Learners’ Attendance
The learners submitted modules are regarded as their attendance. Hence,
they must secure to submit their modules on the scheduled time, otherwise, they would be
marked absent.
A student who incurs seven (7) consecutive weeks of non- attendance in
his/her online classes or non-submission of modules/ activity sheets without any valid
reason or at least contact efforts being made by the learner or parent with the teacher, will
be dropped from his online or modular classes (DepEd Memo no. 14 s. 2021).
9.3. ASSESSMENT PROCESS
Assessment is a process that is used to keep track of learner’s progress in relation to
learning standards and in the development of 21 st century skills to promote self-reflection
and personal accountability among students about their own learning; and to provide bases
for the profiling of student performance on the learning competencies and standards of the
curriculum.
Assessment in distance learning/ remote learning
*Formative assessment is a repetitive form of assessment which targets to develop
the students’ skills necessary to the attainment of learning competencies as measured in
summative assessments. This is given at any time during the teaching and learning process.
*Summative assessment on the other hand, measures whether the students have
met the content and performance standards. This type of assessment which results are used
as bases for computing grades is usually administered at the end of a particular unit.

Note: For the current year, Examination is no longer part of the components of the Grading
System, however, the result of the periodical test shall be included in the Performance Task.
9.3.1. GRADING SYSTEM AND PROMOTION
The K to 12 Basic Education Program uses standards and competency-based grading
system. The final grade or rating given to a subject is based solely on the student’s scholastic
performance.
Students are graded based on their Written Work and Performance Task every
quarter.

Academic Honesty Policy

Silay Institute, Incorporated has been determined to produce learners who are
morally upright with high ethical standards. Hence, it expects all students to observe in all possible
means the principles of academic honesty and integrity.

Academic Dishonesty includes but not limited to:

1. Plagiarism

2. Cheating

3. Fabrication/ Falsification

4. Complicity in academic dishonesty

5. Downloading of unlicensed softwares

1st Offense - written warning, conference with the

12.6. Conduct

Every student is expected to conform to school policies so as not to disrupt the


educational processes. The following must be observed before, during and after SYNCHRONOUS
class:

 Log in 5 minutes before the class starts.


 Turn camera on during getting of attendance or whenever needed
 Be attentive during class sessions.
 Turn microphone off when not asked to recite.
 Wear appropriate/ decent attire when attending classes.
 Be polite and well-mannered when raising a point/question/concern.
 Observe academic honesty by not cheating and copying someone else’s work/
idea without acknowledging the source.

The following must be observed during ASYNCHRONOUS time:

 Be active and attentive to all instructions sent through call/ texts/ school’s
official social media account, class account, or letter given by the school admin,
your adviser, or your teachers.
 Get, accomplish, and submit your modules and performance task on time/ on
the scheduled date.
 Reach out concerns to your adviser/ teachers via call/ text/agreed social media
account.
 Be polite and well-mannered when raising a point/question/concern.
 Observe academic honesty by not cheating and copying someone else’s work/
idea without acknowledging the source.
