ASSIGNMENT 1
EXPLAIN AND DISCUSS VARIOUS NEW MATERIALS
USED IN CONSTRUCTION OF FAÇADE OF TALL
BUILDINGS?
UID: 18BAR1108
NINTH SEMESTER
The primary function of cladding is to resolve the inner terrain of a structure from the
outside in such a way that the out-of-door terrain won't affect the indoors. It's also useful
for regulating the light penetration and controlling the radiation and conduction of heat
from the sun and prevents innards from getting faded and dull. also, shades and louvered
panels allow for reflected light to enter the structure that enhance the comfort.
Considering Indian climatic conditions, one need to choose cladding having following
parcels
(I) RESISTANCE TO EROSION Cladding accoutrements shall have high erosion resistance
like aluminum, sword and they should be duly treated with hot dip galvanizing and epoxy
resin or PU makeup.
(ii0 CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE The cleaning cycle of the external structure
envelope should be caught on while opting cladding. Select material which will attract
lower dust and with minimal vertical shells. Flush seal systems must be avoided, and
nonbleeding sealants may be used for rainfall proofing. A façade which is voiced and
isolated can save up to 70 percent energy costs for heating or cooling.
A) CURTAIN GLAZING: System Curtain glazing is a protean cladding option with glass
as the primary material. In ultramodern high- rise structure, the surface walls are frequently
suspended from the concrete bottom crossbeams, curtain walls and precast concrete walls.
The curtain wall is characterized by multicolored and spandrel glass, a grid of aluminum
caps, pristine sword, and gravestone spandrel covers. The curtain glazing is designed to
repel wind and earthquake loads, air leakage, and inordinate heat loss.
Installation of DGU (Double Glazed Unit) is preferred as it makes curtain glazing system
one of the most effective insulators against heat loss, energy effective and high aesthetic
value. Its disadvantages are that it's precious and there are issues of safety and light.
D) ZINC CLADDING: It is an innovative system which has the rates like long- lasting,
malleable, flexible, and aesthetically appealing.

E) STEEL CLADDING: A variety of sword factors may be used in ultramodern facade
systems, similar as Steel penciled wastes and compound(sandwich) panels, Flat and
rigidized mail panels with folded edges, Light sword infill walls, concave sword sections,
Stainless sword glazing support systems, to name a many. Steel Facade system offers a
variety of colors and face textures is possible. It also minimizes the loads on the supporting
structure. It's also an installation in lower times. As sword is on-combustible and robust to
damage in façade panels. A high position of thermal and aural sequestration can be handed.
F) STONE & PORCELAIN TILES: Consider the following points while choosing
gravestone and demitasse penstocks for erecting envelope ensure the entire accoutrements
are supplied from a single block
I. modes should be in one direction
ii. Colour variations in natural gravestone should be benchmarked with respectable criteria
H) NATURAL SLATE: With tones ranging from dark Argentine to black, natural
gravestone façades similar as slate give sobriety and complication to any façade. In
addition, the material adds thermal comfort and ease of installation for voiced façades. The
slate supports extreme temperatures, slightly accumulates snow, has fire resistance and is
completely leakproof. In addition, because it is one hundred naturals, it has a reduced
environmental impact, and each piece is made by hand without chemicals or fresh
treatments.

I) COMPLEXION FACADE: complexion facades are nothing, but the panels made of
terracotta that can be cladded on the surface walls or facade of any structure. Though
glass and aluminium grounded facades have been recent additions to Indian cityscapes,
espoused largely from the west, but complexion facades like facing bricks or complexion
facade penstocks have been in use for numerous times. complexion facades are the
outgrowth of sophisticated technology and advanced blasting processes and hence are
largely resistant to the external terrain. When compared to makeup, which can look soiled
with dust and dirt, complexion facades, retain the colour for a longer period of time. Since
they are made of terracotta. Their rainfall resistance power makes them durable which last
for decades.
J) PANEL FRAME FACADE Panel facades are framed by mullions on the perpendicular
edges and transoms on the vertical edges. Mullions and transoms are thermally broken to
help cold bridging through the element so that condensation does not do. Unitized curtain
walling is identifiable by the presence of split mullions and transoms on the panel
peripheries. These structural shapes are cheap to manufacture in large amounts once a
bone has been made.

CLAY FACADE: Clay facades are nothing, but the panels made of terracotta that can be
cladded on the exterior walls or facade of any building. Though glass and aluminum-
based facades have been recent additions to Indian cityscapes, borrowed largely from the
west, but clay facades like facing bricks or clay facade tiles have been in use for many
years. Clay Facade are the outcome of sophisticated technology and advanced firing
processes and hence are highly resistant to the exterior environment. When compared to
paint, which can look smudged with dust and dirt, clay facades, retain the color for a
longer period of time. Since they are made of terracotta. Their weather resistance power
makes them highly durable which last for decades.
