Discussion Questions

13-11 What are some of the challenges of self-managed teams at TTM? How should it deal
with them?

The challenge of a self-managed team is in the individuals of each member. Indeed,

self-managing can make the team more free in making decisions because it is not
limited. Bad self-managed at team, with individuals who don't fit into a self-managed
system can make chaos in the team.

I think TTM should use regular management, this is a company engaged in the
automotive/factory sector. Perhaps self-management is suitable for higher levels such
as product development of TTM.

13-12 What factors should be considered when implementing self-managed teams?

The consideration factor in determining a self-managed team is the characteristics of

each member, in building a self-managed team, it takes quite a long time to create
effective teamwork.

13-13 Would the different group development stages apply to this team? How?

Yes, it applies to self-managed teams because the initial stage of a managed team is to
recognize each member, not only that which is self-managed, it also has a long
process of adjusting the similarities of the work team

13-14 Do you think TTM did a good job of implementing self-managed teams? Why?

No, I think TTM has a wrong strategy in using self-managed teams in the field of
manufacturing companies. It is better for factory companies to use centralized
management so that employees can know their respective responsibilities
