Job Description

Major Areas of Responsibility

• Providing & Interpreting Financial Information

• Developing Financial Management mechanisms that minimize risk
• Managing the Company’s financial accounting, monitoring and reporting system
• Managing Budgets
• Keeping abreast of changes in financial regulations & legislation

Primary Objectives

• Provide senior management team with timely, accurate reports to measure business performance
• Implement business controls to eliminate risks
• Performance Management of team
• Working closely with the Sales & Operation teams in terms of financial controls and reporting

Specific Responsibilities of the Job

• Providing & Interpreting Financial Information

o Monitoring & interpreting cash flows and predicting future trends
o Analysing change and advising accordingly
o Researching and reporting on factors influencing business performance
o Analysing competitors and market trends
o Control Company’s income and expenditure

• Developing Financial Management mechanisms that minimize risk

o Implement adequate controls that minimize risk and maximizes efficiencies
o Work closely with external auditors
o Report and investigate any shortfalls in controls
o Recommend future control mechanisms to senior management

• Managing the Company’s financial accounting, monitoring and reporting system

o Prepare financial accounts and reports on a timely basis
o Report any exceptions to senior management with recommendations for future actions
o Ensure business partners have adequate reports that allow for sound decision making

• Managing Budgets
o Implement standard budget monitoring and measurement process
o Provide timely updates to all stakeholders
o Build partnerships with key stakeholders in Sales & Operations
o Implement and control company expenditure process
o Hold regular meetings to discuss budgets with stakeholders
o Provide 12 month rolling forecasts to senior management
o Implement and manage the annual forecasting process

• Keeping abreast of changes in financial regulations & legislation

o Keep in touch with industry updates and news that will influence the Company’s performance
o Monitor any changes in the regulations by the government
o Ensure that the Company is compliant and follows all necessary legislation in terms of financial reporting

Skills

Strong organizational, time management, negotiation and communication skills

Commercial awareness, initiative and the ability to work part of a team
Excellent problem solving
Strong analytical, technical, IT and numerical abilities are crucial
Ability to build partnerships with key stakeholders
Excellent skills in communication, presentation skills, and teamwork
General knowledge of competitor benchmarking
Experience in managing budgets and forecasting

Education
A degree in accounting or similar (statistics, economics, mathematics)
