• Each group must work on their assigned datasets.
• The details of the dataset is updated on the shared spreadsheet:

• Use STATA for this assignment
• As part of your final submission, upload single PDF document on CMS, answering the relevant
questions. The PDF should be titled “AI-Group Leader Name”. Also send the Log file & do file
for STATA analysis along with the dictionary files used for data extraction.
• Please note that your individual evaluation will also depend on your performance in the group
presentation/viva [Date: 19th of November 2022]
• The note should be properly formatted.

Part-I [Data Extraction]

1. Write the dictionary file for the levels as per your dataset and send the dictionary files used for
evaluation. [10M]
2. Extract the data & merge the specified levels (as per your dataset) and send the merged data as
well as the log file as part of the evaluation. [15M]

Part-II [Data Analysis]

3. Answer the following questions based on the NSS data extracted in Part-I [35M]
a. Calculate some summary statistics of the variables & comment on the same. [5M]
b. Make a plot of any set of relevant variables. Discuss the results [5M]
c. Describe State-level variation of any one variable selected from your datasets. Discuss
the findings. [10M]
d. Choose any two or more variables in the NSS dataset and describe their characteristics
in any manner you deem to be fit [example, state-level distribution, rural-urban split,
across social groups, etc.]. The selected variables should be from different levels and
interpret the results. [10M]
e. Create one new variable based upon the variables given in the dataset and find out the
association of this new variable with one of the existing variables. [5M]
