REMOVAL Disconnect:
– the cables (1) on the control panel,

Remove:
– the ashtray,
– the central console,

REFITTING

Proceed in the reverse order to removal.

Check that the control panel is positioned correctly on


its centring pins.

REMOVAL REFITTING

The control cables can be removed without removing Fit the cables on the control panel.

Remove the retaining clips (E).

ADJUSTMENT

Position the control panel rotary control and its flap to


the stop.

Insert the cable in the distribution unit flap.

Replace the retaining clips (E).

Check that the controls are operating correctly. Refit


the control panel on the dashboard.

Replace the central console.

Particle filter 61A
REMOVAL REFITTING

Remove: Refit the particle filter working in reverse order to that


– the right scuttle half-grille (1), for removal.
– the particle filter protective cowl.
NOTE: ensure that the particle filter is fitted the right
way round (the two arrows (A) must be pointing in the
same direction).

Remove the particle filter by bending it slightly.

REMOVAL

Disconnect the battery.

Remove:
– the right scuttle half-grille,
– the grille deflector,
– the connectors (1) and (2),
– the four retaining bolts.

Remove the fan assembly.

REFITTING

Proceed in the reverse order to removal.

IMPORTANT: remember to carry out the


programming needed for the vehicle to operate
correctly after connecting the battery (refer to the
relevant section).

REMOVAL

Disconnect the battery.

Remove:
– the steering wheel bolt,
– the steering wheel after straightening the wheels.

WARNING: follow the recommendations


contained in the relevant section relating to the
AIR BAG system

Remove the dashboard.

Remove:
Remove the casing retaining bolts (B) and withdraw
– the steering column half-cowlings,
the casing.
– the two windscreen pillar trims,
– the underneath of the dashboard (1),
– the instrument panel,
– the windscreen wiper and lighting switch stalk block,
– the central console,
– the two heater control panel mounting bolts (3),
– the radio (if fitted),
– the passenger air bag (depending on equipment),
– the steering column,
– the seven dashboard fixing bolts,
– the distribution unit bolt (A) located under the
dashboard.

Engine compartment side Fit a deflector and blow out the remaining liquid using
compressed air.
Fit a hose clamp and disconnect the quick-release
clamps on the heater hoses. Remove:
– the windscreen wiper arms using tool Elé. 1294-01,
– the plenum chamber upper seal and the external air
intake grille,
– the air blower unit,
– the distribution unit mounting bolts (1).

Other type of quick-release hose clamps.

In the passenger compartment REFITTING

Remove: Check:
– the air distribution unit, – that the cables pass correctly behind the dashboard,
– the heater radiator. – that the air ducts are correctly connected to prevent
noise.

Replace the steering wheel bolt (pre-bonded bolt,


tightening torque: 4.5 daNm).

IMPORTANT: follow the procedure for checking the


correct operation of the system before reconnecting
the AIR BAG:

● Check that the AIR BAG warning light on the


instrument panel is lit up when the ignition is
switched on.

● Connect a dummy igniter to the AIR BAG


connector and check that the warning light goes
out.

● Switch off the ignition, connect the AIR BAG in


place of the dummy igniter and fix the air bag to
the steering wheel.

● Switch on the ignition, check that the air bag


warning light lights up for three seconds when the
ignition is switched on and then goes out and
remains out.

If the warning light is not functioning as described


above, refer to the relevant section.

IMPORTANT: remember to carry out the


programming needed for the vehicle to operate
correctly after connecting the battery (refer to the
relevant section).

Radiator 61A
REMOVAL Fit a deflector and blow out the remaining liquid using
compressed air.
The radiator is removed after first removing the air
blower unit, the dashboard and the air distribution unit. Remove the heater pipe flange bolt on the bulkhead.

Disconnect electrical connectors (3) and (4).


REMOVAL
Remove the retaining bolts from the evaporator
Disconnect the battery. housing.

Drain the R134a refrigerant circuit using the filling


equipment.

Engine compartment side

Disconnect the R134a hoses (nut 1) that connect to


the pressure relief valve.

Fit plugs to the hoses and the pressure relief valve.

Remove:
– the windscreen wiper arms,
– the air inlet grille(s), depending on model (standard
version/version with climate control),
– the closure panel insulator (A) (on relevant models),
– the six plenum chamber closure panel (2) retaining
bolts and remove the plenum chamber,
– the evaporator protector in the plenum chamber.

Remove the dashboard (see relevant section).

– that the air ducts are in the correct positions.

IMPORTANT
(see the relevant section)

Refill the R134a coolant circuit using the filling


equipment.
Remove the cable.
IMPORTANT
Carefully remove the evaporator from its housing.
When replacing the evaporator, add 30 ml of
P.A.G. SP 10 oil to the circuit.
Use the same oil for refitting the seals, ensuring that
they are in good working order.

IMPORTANT: remember to carry out the


programming needed for the vehicle to operate
correctly after connecting the battery (refer to the
relevant section).

REMOVAL

Disconnect the battery.

Remove:
– the right scuttle half-grille,
– the grille deflector,
– the connectors (1) and (2),
– the four retaining bolts.

Remove the fan assembly.

REFITTING

Proceed in the reverse order to removal.

IMPORTANT: remember to carry out the


programming needed for the vehicle to operate
correctly after connecting the battery (refer to the
relevant section).

REMOVAL REFITTING

Place the vehicle on a lift. If the compressor needs replacing, the new one is
supplied filled with oil.
Drain the R134a coolant circuit.
Position the compressor the correct way round (filler

Remove: Tighten the three retaining bolts (tightening torque:


– the engine undertray, 2.1 daNm).
– the front bumper.
Refit the two R134a coolant hoses (A) (tightening

belt and tension it.
From below, remove:
– the compressor drive belt, Refill the R134a refrigerant circuit using the filling

– the three compressor retaining bolts and remove the
compressor. NOTE: you must remember to refit all the bolts when
refitting the hoses and compressor. Make sure that the
bolts are in the right positions before tightening them
to torque.

This will ensure that the hoses stay in the right position
and prevent unnecessary wear.

Check the condition of the seals and lubricate them


with P.A.G. SP 10 oil.

IMPORTANT: When replacing the compressor, it is


essential to top up the oil.

IMPORTANT: remember to carry out the


programming needed for the vehicle to operate
correctly after connecting the battery (refer to the
relevant section).

NOTE: it is essential to insert plugs in the hoses and in


the compressor to prevent moisture entering the
circuit.

Condenser 62A
REMOVAL – the two condenser retaining bolts (6),
– the condenser hose protector (7).
It is not necessary to use a lift. Drain the R134a
refrigerant circuit. Carefully remove the condenser.

Disconnect the battery.

Remove:
– the front bumper and its grille,
– the upper cross member (3) electrical wiring
harness (2),
– the two radiator upper retaining bolts (4).

Disengage the radiator-condenser assembly and push


it back a little way.

Remove:
– the six upper cross member bolts (3),
– the two R134a refrigerant hoses (fit plugs to prevent
moisture entering the components).

REFITTING

Refit in the reverse order to removal (remember to refit


the condenser protection (7) if fitted).

Check the condition of the seals.

Refill the R134a refrigerant circuit using the filling


equipment.

IMPORTANT: When changing the condenser, add


30 ml of P.A.G. SP 10 oil to the circuit.

NOTE: Bolt tightening torque (6): 0.8 daNm.

IMPORTANT: remember to carry out the


programming needed for the vehicle to operate
correctly after connecting the battery (refer to the
relevant section).

Expansion valve 62A
REPLACEMENT

Drain R134a refrigerant from the circuit (see the


method described in the Air conditioning manual).

Remove:
– the connecting pipe retaining nut (A),
– the two pressure relief valve retaining bolts (B) on the
evaporator.

On refitting, ensure that the pipe seals are in good


condition.

Bolt tightening torques:


– bolt (A): 0.8 daNm,
– bolt (B): 0.6 daNm.

Create a vacuum, then fill the circuit with R134a


refrigerant using the filling equipment.

REMOVAL

It is not necessary to use a lift.

Drain the R134a refrigerant circuit using a filling


station.
– the upper cross member (2) electrical wiring
harness (1),
Disconnect the battery.
– the two radiator upper retaining bolts (3),
– the upper cross member (2) (loosen the lower bolts
slightly),
– the three coolant pipe mountings (on the dehydration
canister and the condenser) (use plugs to prevent
moisture from entering),
– the condenser protection (4) (if fitted).

Disconnect the radiator-condenser assembly and


move it in front of the cross member in order to lower
the assembly slightly to remove the two bolts (5) of the
dehydration canister mounting.

Remove:
– the front bumper and its grille,
– the air unit (A) with its sleeve,

Take out the canister by lowering it carefully.

REFITTING

Refit in the reverse order to removal (remember to refit


the condenser protection (4) (if fitted)).

Check the condition of the seals and lubricate them


with P.A.G. SP 10 oil.

Create a vacuum, then fill the circuit with R134a


refrigerant using the filling equipment.'

NOTE: When changing the dehydration canister, add


15 ml of P.A.G. SP 10 oil to the circuit.

IMPORTANT: do not forget to carry out the


programming needed for the vehicle to operate
correctly after connecting the battery (refer to the
relevant section).

REMOVAL

Drain the R134a refrigerant circuit using a filling

Disconnect the battery.


Remove the mounting bolt on the expansion valve.
Remove:

When changing a pipe, add 10 ml of SP 10 oil or when


a pipe bursts (rapid leak), add 100 ml.

IMPORTANT: remember to carry out the


programming needed for the vehicle to operate
correctly after connecting the battery (refer to the
relevant section).
Release the inlet trunking (1) on the panel side to
access the pressure sensor connector.

Disconnect the pressure sensor connector.

TIGHTENING TORQUE (in daNm)
Proceed in the reverse order to removal.

Check the condition of the pressure sensor seals and
oil the seal with P.A.G. SP 10 oil.
REMOVAL

– the four retaining bolts.

Remove the resistor unit.

REFITTING

Proceed in the reverse order to removal.
