Introduction

The PID tuning process will stabilize heater control and reduce fluctuation. This process should be run
when changing out the extruders and extruder components, or if temperature fluctuation is noted.

Process

Prepare for the PID Tune Process.

To prepare for the process ensure both heaters are at room temperature, this will ensure accurate tune
results.

Start the PID Tune Process

To start the process, navigate to the console tab on the screen. Once there enter the following

command: M303 H1 S200

This will tell the controller to start the process, and to use 200C as the setpoint for the extruder. The
controller will then heat and cool down several times to calculate the new PID values. Ensure the Fans
are turned off for the duration of the PID tune process. The controller with perform a 4 phase process.

Note: Use the M303 Command during the tuning to check the status of the PID tune Process

Store the PID Values

To store the values into the controller type: M500 into the console, and press enter. This will save the
values into the controller. Move onto the next step to ensure the new values are applied to the
machine.

Load the New Parameters

To ensure the controller applies the newly stored values, it is necessary to enter M501 at the bottom of
the config.g file. This can be accessed via the web interface, or via the internal SD card.

Conclusion
After tuning, temperature readings should be stable within 2 degrees of set point without major
fluctuation. Repeat the tuning process after changing extruders or if temperature fluctuation is noted.
