Hello. I am Mr. Witherspoon and I have over 30 years of aviation experience.

Not only do students learn about airplanes and flying, we discuss aviation
history in how the first idea of flying started with Leonardo DaVinci. I enjoy
discussing the growth of aviation with students while covering the Wright
Brothers and so many others who have contributed to our advancement and
has made history such as Bessie Coleman, Charles Lindbergh and Amelia

Earhart.
In this activity, my students are going to use Pixlr to create a flyer of aviation
history that is to display the pioneers of aviation that have contributed to the
advancement of changes in aviation.
 Activity
The teacher will cover a brief
overview of the pioneers in
aviation history from the early
nineteenth century, that will
include the names, dates, and a
brief biography for the students to
understand the accomplishments
of those pioneers. The teacher will
use the instructional guides that
provides the information of some
of the most significant names are
the Sir George Cayley, Otto
Lilienthal, Wright Brothers, Bessie
Coleman, Octave Chanute and
etc.…

Students will use Pixlr to create a
flyer that involves aviation history.
The flyer will be used as a
Technology
recruiting tool for rising 8th grade
students.
1. Students will use their chrome books to
research an assigned aviation pioneer by
using an internet browser such as Google,
Bing and such.
2. Students will research the assigned
pioneer for their biography,
accomplishments and contributions to
aviation technology as well as images
related to their accomplishments.
3. Students will use the internet and go to
the website www.pixlr.com and create a
login. The website is free.
4. Students will create a new template or
explore existing templates to create a
flyer that consists of images of their
assigned aviation pioneer, along with
name of the person and what they were
famous for in their contribution to
aviation history.
5. Students will save their flyer in their
google drive to print and submit for their
assignment grade.
