Ralph Philip Boas states that, during the teaching process in schools and

universities, it is very common for students to have a course called introduction

either of a subject or in a university career and that in a way it has become a

problem to learn because the introduction system makes it difficult for a man to

want to explore and learn more about the subject, because it is too much

information from the beginning, where you want to teach from the most

relevant facts to historical material where he presents an example that an

introduction of 3 hours a week to expose all the facts do not have favorable

results, so Boas proposes new methodologies for teaching young people. One

of his methodologies that can be used when wanting to learn a little about

English literature is to start with other alternatives such as poetry, plays,

essays, and novels that can be of pleasure for the student to want to know and

learn more every day, in this way it is sought that students can learn more

practically and dynamically, another alternative to learn is that students write

the arguments that they believe are relevant, in this way you can better acquire

the information.

Why English literature should be included in school curriculum?

In the article by Ralph Philip Boas, he mentions important topics to explore

English literature in a different way where we can highlight the importance of

this topic that is not only focused on traditional education but in different

branches that help students to go beyond and be able to perform better in any

field of artistic knowledge. Therefore, it is important and indispensable to

include English literature in the school curriculum.

How might teaching English literature impact in Colombian context?

The teaching of English literature in the Colombian context would have a

good impact on early childhood, higher and university education. By exploring

other areas of knowledge they can be more open to understanding uncommon

topics and allow themselves to be carried away by their passions. I think it

would be more difficult for teachers to adapt to this new teaching method, but

it would also be very useful to start incorporating it.
