 CHAPTER 1

THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

Background of the Study

Back on December 2021, a boy by the name Danny John B. Manjares, a first year college student
from Camarines Sur installed a video calling application called the “Monkey App”. Since he is bored
that time, he takes all his time to use the application while kept socializing with many people from
different regions and countries. Later on, as he swipe next, a prestigious boy flashed on his screen
and smiled at him. He response quickly and the boy stayed on the screen and didn’t tap the next
button, instead, the add friend button. The boy in the screen named Shayriel Davied Azutillo
Fernandez, a fourth year graduating criminology student from Pangasinan. Dan ask David if he was
able to know his facebook account name in order to keep their conversation in as the call ends. Then
David gave his account name to Dan, and it all started as friends.

As weeks passed, they immediately got closer and always taking video call, having conversation at a
time, and the catch is that they fall in love with each other. By that time, they both told to each
other their feelings and Dan cannot believe that a criminology student would been in love with him.
As far, that circumstance is too rare especially for a same sex relationship.

But after all, the time has come and Dan left David on the air on April 2022. That happening is too
pathetic. David pleased Dan to stay, but Dan was out. After a month of disappearance, on the first
week of October 2022, Dan contacted David in order to apologize and talk to David. As such, David
still love Dan whatever challenges would come on them. That’s why David gave Dan second chance
and now, they were really great lovers even in distance relationship and loved each other greatly.

Today, November 25, 2022 their revived relationship has already reached 11 strong and difficult
times, but worth it chances as they continued their relationship and hopefully to last it long over the
years, until forever. This study will focus on the nature of the foundation and reviving of their
relationship and why Dan still loves David so much.
