General Instruction: Solve the following problems in long bond paper or newsprint and use

ballpen not a pencil then box your final answer.

Test I
Analyze the problem/s carefully and answer the following questions. (Show your solutions)
5pts. Each.
Situation 1. The angle of elevation of the top point D of a tower from A is 24.35°. From another point B
the angle of elevation of the top of the tower is 56.21°. The points A and B are 287.6m apart on the
same horizontal plane as the foot (point C) of the tower. The horizontal angle subtended by A and B at
the foot of the tower is 90°. Determine the following:

1. The distance AC in meters.

2. The distance BC in meters.

3. The height of the tower in meters.

Situation 2. An observer wishes to determine the height of the tower. He took sight of the top of the
tower from A and got an angle of elevation of 30°. He then walked 25m closer to point B and observed
the angle of elevation as 40°. Point A and B are at the same elevation, and on a direct line with the
tower.

4. How high is the tower?

Situation 3. From the top of tower to the sun forms a right triangle with a ratio of 2 and from the top of
tower to the tip of shadow projected by the sun the distance is 5√5 𝑚. Determine the following:
number 5-6

5. The length of shadow from the tower.

6. The height of building.

7. If 𝑎 = 4𝑐𝑜𝑠𝑥 + 6𝑠𝑖𝑛𝑥 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑏 = 6𝑠𝑖𝑛𝑥 − 4𝑐𝑜𝑠𝑥, what is the value of 𝑎2 + 𝑏².

8. The perimeter of a triangle is 271 cm. The interior angles measure 50°, 60°, and 70° respectively.
What is the length of the longest side of the triangle?

Test II
Simplify the Following identities. (Show your solutions) 5 pts. Each.
1. 5(1 − 𝑠𝑖𝑛2 𝐴) 𝑠𝑒𝑐²𝐴

2. sin 𝐴 csc 𝐴 tan 𝐴 tan(90° − 𝐴)

3. (𝑠𝑒𝑐 2 𝐴 − 𝑡𝑎𝑛2 𝐴)(𝑐𝑠𝑐 2 𝐴 − 𝑐𝑜𝑡 2 𝐴)(𝑠𝑖𝑛2 𝐴 + 𝑐𝑜𝑠 2 𝐴)

4. sin(90° − 𝐵) cot 𝐵 cos(90° − 𝐵) − 1

Test III
Proving identities. (Show your solutions) 5 pts. Each.
1. 1 + sin 𝐴 cot 𝐴 = sin 𝐴 csc 𝐴 + cos 𝐴
cos 𝐴 tan 𝐴
2. = (sin 𝐴)² sec A)
tan (90°−𝐴)

3. sin 𝐴 tan 𝐴 sec 𝐴 = sec 𝐴 cot(90° − 𝐴) sin 𝐴

4. sec 𝐴 cot 𝐴 cot(90° − 𝐴) − sin 𝐴 csc 𝐴 (90° − 𝐴) = sec 𝐴 − tan 𝐴
