Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

1. Recycle
Recycle means to turn something old and useless (like plastic milk jugs) into
something new and useful (like picnic benches, playground equipment and
recycling bins).

What can be recycled?

 aluminium cans
 glass bottles
 newspapers
 magazines
 plastics

The importance of recycling

 It reduces pollution of air, water, and land.
 It also protects natural resources such as trees, minerals, and oil. These do
not get used up as quickly if people can reuse existing products made
from these resources.

2. Reduce
Reduce means to cut back on the amount of trash we generate.

Example
 Switch off the electric and electronic devices when not in use
 Take only the amount of water you want to drink
 Turn off the taps while applying soap or brushing.

3. Reuse
Reuse means to find new ways to use something again.

Example

 Use broken dishes, plastic containers, or empty glass bottles as flower

pots or vases.
 Reuse takeaway paper coffee cups as pen or pencil holders.
