INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY IN
MANAGEMENT
The process of transformation data into information
Data: are streams of raw facts representing events
occurring in organizations or the physical environment
before they are organized and arranged into a form that
people can understand and use.
Information: is data that have been shaped into a form
that is meaningful and useful to human understanding.
Input is the activity of gathering and capturing raw data.
Processing is the activity of converting or transforming
data into useful outputs
Output the production of useful information usually in
form of documents or reports
Feedback is the output that is used to make changes to
input or processing activities.
CHARACTERISTICS OF VALUABLE INFORMATION
• Accurate
• Complete
• Economical
•Value Chains composed of activities "primary" and
"support activities". The value chain business describes
the way to contemplate the chain of activities
(processes) that provide value to the customer. Each of
these activities has its own performance objectives
•Management processes : Management processes are
used to measure, monitor and control business activities.
Such procedures shall ensure that a primary process, or
support, meet operational goals, financial, regulatory,
