Busker (MUSICMATCH SYSTEM)

2. Introduction

The musicians’ job scope is treated with various kinds of jobs. Performers may work alone or in
a group, solo or as part of an ensemble. They may perform for a live audience in clubs or
auditoriums, on television or radio, or in a recording studio.

Before the Covid-19, musicians are generally free to perform where and whenever they wish.
This is how they make their living as an entrepreneur, and they're not as limited in where and
how they perform. They then have their own fans and friends that also help them by performing
with them and create an ensemble together.

During the closure of society, many professional musicians’ jobs are on the line. Citing that the
government forbids workers to have personal relationships like volunteering, convening, or
gathering. This is having a great impact on musicians’ careers since they cannot assemble for an
event like a music exhibition (jam session) or tour. Now that we are moving back to our original
state, there are some musicians that are still at rock bottom with disbanded group.

Busker is an application that helps musicians grow their connections with each other and find
players to play with. This new platform allows the musicians to make new music. Moreover,
Busker not only provides the musicians by sharing them on other platforms to grow their
connections, but that music can be shared as well.

This project has the main purpose of creating a platform that will encourage collaborations
happening between the musicians. It serves several purposes, which allow them to connect with
other musicians, and to improve the musician community.

3. Project background

Busker is an application that assists musicians to find other musicians to form an ensemble
together. Other that, it also helps them to share their talents by posting pictures and videos of
them playing their instrument. There are a lot of talented underground musicians that are still
developing their talent, this app can also ensure that they can find a teacher, mentor to help and
guide them to become a successful musician in the future.

The benefit of this app is that it helps musicians to find other musicians and form an ensemble
together to create music. Music brings people together and have no barriers of language. As
there are no language to music people around the world can hear and enjoy it. The impact of this
system is that it can help to ease the musicians to find other talented players such as themselves.

4. Problem statement

However, Covid-19 causes a lot of people to lose their jobs and struggle to find new work. This
included the musicians performing in an ensemble that calls itself a group. There are still many
professional musicians online, but some are already searching for other gigs as they need to
provide for themselves. Furthermore, post-Covid musicians are still searching to reunite their
former ensemble, it is difficult for them to search for another ensemble because they are losing
their job.

As with any job located in Malaysia, you need connections. Otherwise, you may have a hard time
getting your hands on it. After all, it is only common for people to hire or work with people they
trust first before they can work with a single stranger. This is the case with the music industry.
This fact can be supported by searching a quote from James in Cilisos.my by Sabrina Noor on
23/11/2020 which is “Even if you’re good, of course, different people are different, but based on
our own experience, even if you’re good – you think you play a good show – people will always
choose their friends first before you.” This shows that connections are a strong factor to become
a famous local musician. According to Digital Music News, around 91% of musicians go
undiscovered, meaning no one ever gets to enjoy their outstanding talent. Artists are far more
likely to be appreciated by others when they take the effort to form their own bands and make
videos to upload to YouTube and other social media sites. Anyone may start a music group since
"Indie" bands come in all different genres.

The music producers are taking to Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Vimeo, Spotify and Facebook to
share their work. The main problem is that there is not a reliable way of finding these pages that
are important for the music production. Hereby, this application helps to reduce radio contest
episodes as well as it removes other pieces of code and just displays musical talents. Music
artists can show their artistic skills as they can release a music record and people can listen to it.

Finally, there are no online applications that can help musicians find other musicians that they
can be part of. There are some applications, but their only function is to advertise entertainment
events, sell merchandise, and sell tickets to concerts. With this, the application will make it easy
for emerging bands and musicians to find a partner, or form into a complete ensemble.

5. Research Objectives

The objectives of the research/project should be closely related to the statement of the
problems:

1. To identify the requirements for the platform for the musicians.

2. To design a platform where musicians can recruit and find bands.
3. To provide a platform for band and musicians that can share their skills and talents in
their profession.
4. To create a web-based and mobile system that can be used by musicians for the

 purposes.

6. Scope of the Project

Scope of User:

The scope of this study is divided into two parts, target users(musicians) and admin.

6.1 Target users

Target User is a group of people who, regardless of their age, sexuality, education, or other
characteristics, have been identified as possible customers for this application.. Target users for
this system are musicians.

Scope of System:

6.2 Functional Requirement

Functional Requirement (FR) is a statement that can describes the services that
application must provide. It refers to application system or a component.

6.3 Non-Functional Requirements

Non-functional requirement is a requirement is a requirement that provides criteria

that may be utilized to assess the assess the performance system.

 The application should provide an informative and user-friendly interface

 The application should be ready 24/7 for users

6.4 Limitation 
Based on the research, there are some constraints or limitation for this project. But this
is just minor limitation and will not give big effect. Here are some of the limitations: 
 Only has English as the language. 
 This system won’t run without internet connection 
 This application only covers musicians that are in Malaysia.

7. Program of Work

Antithetical to Waterfall model consisting of inflexible step-by-step leaner development phases,

Iterative SDLC Model is a cyclical process blended approach – any combination of iterative
design/method with incremental build model.

The various phases of Iterative model are as follows:

1. Initial Planning & Planning: In this phase, brainstorming for idea, handling out surveys asking
people what can be done to make their daily life better.
2. Requirement gathering: In this phase, requirements are gathered from customers.
3. Analysis & design: At this stage, the requirements that are already been gathered are checked.
This is to let us know whether the requirement will be fulfilled or not. Other that, design the
software by the different diagrams like Data Flow diagram, activity diagram, class diagram, state
transition diagram, etc.
4. Implementation: In the implementation, requirements are written in the coding language and
transformed into computer programmed which are called Software.
5. Testing: After completing the coding phase, software testing starts using different test methods.
There are many test methods, but the most common are white box, black box, and grey box test
methods.
6. Deployment: After completing all the phases, software is deployed to its work environment.
7. Evaluation: In this phase, after the product deployment, evaluation phase is performed to check
the behaviors and validity of the developed product. And if there are any error found then the
process starts again from the requirement gathering.

9. Expected Product

The newly available online app, BUSKER should be able to perform flawlessly and in line with
market demands. The way bands form partnerships and do other things have been changed by
this application. Thanks to this technology, musicians all over the world can work together like
never before.

In this application, Busker has boosted the power of internet search engine so that musicians
don't have to walk around in public places or set up posters looking to find other members to
join them. The software that soldiers them and make looking easier within the application and
then when they search, they will see their searchable musicians.

 Despite some downsides, social media such as this application is a good way to rate and
showcase your talents. In as much as you can reach out a wider audience this will always help
you to achieve your career goals. If you post some performance posted online, then it gives the
user to showcase their talents. With the use of this application, the researcher intends to make it
easier for musicians to find other interesting and skilled musicians, make friends with other
musicians, form bands for busking, and other tasks.

In addition to making, it easier for musicians to connect with new, interesting people, this app
aims to offer more opportunities for musicians to complete supportive and productive tasks such
as forming bands and busking. With the use of this application, the researcher will introduce
other musicians with similar interests to these appealing tasks.

10. Conclusion

Busker's creation will give administrators and users a lot of advantages and ease in running the
software without having to take the trouble of formatting and downloading the tool's files.
Additionally, they don't need to fume every other band-playing device, like Bandzilla, before
starting their musical activity! of course, the project may face a complex challenge, but the hope
is that this tool will find a place in the market and meet the need.

Even though this software still has many limitations. Nevertheless, it will eventually be upgraded
based on earlier user responses and market needs. Now, this piece of software will be able to
solve any issues as quickly as the market demands it.
