•I painted my own safety eyes. You can read about how I did it on my blog.
There are also instructions for crochet eyes.

•Unless noted otherwise, crochet in a continuous spiral. Mark the last stitch of each round.
(I mark with a different-colored scrap of yarn.)
•Don't put too much stuffing in pieces. Too much fiberfill stuffing can distort crochet shapes.
You don't need to use a lot!
•I make dolls with basic, cheap acrylic yarn. Red Heart, Caron (One Pound), and store brands make up
most of my collection. For my amigurumi, stiff and “itchy” yarns work best.

one round when you're done.

easily count the rounds on your piece

Starting the feather fringe

Assembly
•Sew the legs onto rounds 2-4 of the body,
slightly apart.

•Sew arms to the body, just below the last

round. If you have a skeleton, jab the arm
stick through the shoulders, and slip the arms
over it.
•HDC's of the arm r14 (“shoulder”) go
up/out, to give it a more natural shape.
Everything about to be sewed together.
•Sew the neck ruff to the body, mostly tacking
the front and back points down.

• Sew the head onto the neck ruff. If you can,

also get it through the body on a couple
stitches. (Sew through the last couple rounds
of the head.)

•Sew the wings onto his back. Attach the

fringeless part to his shoulder blades.

Skeleton
•A typical skeleton I make in my dolls.
•14g or 16g aluminum craft wire, twisted. (A thicker
10-12g would also work without the twisting. Loop the
ends so nothing pokes out.)
•I insert it right after the leg join, stuff lightly around it,
then continue stuffing as the torso takes shape.
•I make it a little longer than necessary, then trim the
excess once the doll is done up to the neck. The two
ends are plugged into the head, and internally bent to
90° with a hook.
•The arm bar is separate, and I stab that through the
torso when I'm ready to sew the arms on.
