II. PROJECT SUMMARY

This project aims to help pupils who struggle with reading due to pandemic and lack of
face-to-face instruction to develop reading skills. Through the construction of huts that will serve as
reading kiosks and additional reading materials (improvised reading materials) called Reading Hub, the
goal of this project will be implemented to develop the love and habit of reading among learners in
Camohaguin ES as a result of an increase in the number of struggling readers. The Hub is founded on the
idea that by giving kids more access to reading materials, they may all acquire positive reading habits and
skills. In the end, this will foster a culture and climate of constant reading in public schools. Camohaguin
ES enlists the assistance and cooperation of internal and external stakeholders as part of the Project. In
this project, volunteer parents/teachers will serve as tutors every spare time (1 o'clock reading habit) to
struggling readers.
The proponent together with the Camohaguin ES Brigada Pagbasa coordinator and CES
teachers will be enjoined to take part in this project by contributing their resources. This project will be
done year-round as the needs of the pupils are all throughout the year.
To support the cost of building the hut that will be turned into a reading Hub, it requires a
collaborative effort between the school and stakeholders through functional networking focused on the
following: Human resource development, and the Developing additional resources such as fund raising
from stakeholders by conducting activities on the upcoming United Nation Day. Sources of funds will be
the PTA, alumni, and private individuals. Considering the number of the target beneficiaries, this project
would need PhP 25,000.00 for the construction of the hut as a reading hub.
III. PROJECT BACKGROUND
Reading is a personal ability to comprehend and interpret the meaning of the text. Because
reading is frequently regarded as a challenging talent, students typically struggle to attain reading
achievement, which is crucial to reading comprehension. Making sense through reading is the process.
Understanding what is being read is the goal of reading comprehension, which also involves word
reading, word knowledge, and fluency. Reading comprehension is thus a form of interaction with a
written text. Another is to expand a learner's vocabulary. To improve their reading skills, readers must
absorb and understand the text they are reading. The students must regularly practice reading, even at
home.
In relation to Brigada Pagbasa (BP) as a form of Brigada Eskwela, is an after-school reading
program in response to Hamon: Bawat Bata Bumabasa or DepEd 3B Initiative issued under DM 173, s.
2019. All Brigada Eskwela implementers are encouraged to conduct this partnership initiative for reading
which serves as a platform to synergize education-related endeavors that immediately addresses literacy
and numeracy learning gaps.
With this scenario, the concept for a reading hub was started by the proponent to
complement or enhance the department's efforts to assist students in reading. This project's primary goal
is to increase the number of readers in the current academic year. This project will benefit a lot of kids.
Additionally, parents will assist instructors in pursuing this activity as partners.
