What did I learn in math?

Math taught me a lot of different things. In my first quarter, we tackled all about quadratic equations and
inequalities, if you are curious, you may ask, what are these?

The definition of quadratic equation, any equation containing one term in which the unknown is squared
and no term in which it is raised to a higher power. Meanwhile inequalities it means. A relationship between
two expressions or value that is not equal to each other’s. In our next lesson, we did discuss how to extract
square roots and completing the equations.

Furthermore, the process of solving the quadratic equation is the following

Solve x 2+5x+6=0

Solution
2
x +5x+6=0 Write the equation in general form.

(x-3) (x-2) Factor.

X=3, x=2 Solve.

Additionally, The discriminant b 2-4ac and the nature of the roots of QE D> 0 and

 A perfect square: The roots are rational and not equal.

 Not a perfect square: The roots are irrational and not equal.

D= 0: The roots are rational and equal.

D<0= the roots are imaginary.

Henceforth, the roots arer 1, r 2, and the coefficient of a x 2 + bx + c = 0

−b c
r 1 +r 2 = r1 . r2 =
a a

In addition, the equation a x 2+ bx + c = 0 can be transformed into the following:

b c
x - (r 1 +r 2) x + ¿ ¿, r 2 )= 0 (x- r 1) (x- r 2)= 0
2 2
x+ x+ =0
a a
Moreover, we transform algebraic equations into quadratic equations & solve them. We check the
roots based on the original equations, we transform equations involving radicals in square roots into
quadratic equations and solve them, and we check the roots based on the original equations.

As well as in solving quadratic inequalities, solve first the related quadratic equation and use the roots
to determine three intervals on the number line, choose points in the intervals as test points to
determine the solution set of the quadratic inequality and we learned graph the inequality.

In conclusions, we should practice and apply everyday on our knowledge in mathematics in real
life. Mathematics aids in our understanding of the world and is an effective method of developing
mental discipline. Math fosters logical reasoning, critical thinking, creative thinking, abstract or spatial
thinking, problem solving abilities, and even effective communication abilities.
