THE IDEA OF COMMUNISM
Would you like to live in a world where everything is shared by everyone and everything
is owned by everyone?

Well most of us would.

Many people would call this a utopia, a place of perfection. This is the idea behind
communism.

The Idea of Communism is not new.

The Greeks talked about this golden age 2000 years ago.

POWER IN THE HANDS OF A FEW
{ Since the beginning of Time society has been controlled by a ruler, a king, or a queen. Power
and money were in the hands of a few. Most people hold little or no power. }

Since the beginning of time power has been in the hands of few.

{ The industrial revolution in the eighth and nineteenth-century in Europe was a time in history
when people left their firms and went to live in cities and work in factories.
The owner's aim was to make money for themselves while paying others to work for them. This
is how a capitalist society works.}

During the industrial revolution, many people left their homes and went to cities to work in
factories. The owner's aim was to make money for themselves while paying others to work for
them. This is how a capitalist society works

But the power was still in the hands of the few many factory owners who became rich by forcing
the workers to work long hours in dirty factories and paying them very little. The workers were
very unhappy and began to protest.

There are many forms of communism but one of the most famous forms is Marxist
communism.
This ideology can be found in the book the communist manifesto
{by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels.

Karl Marx is known as the father of communism and wrote the book called "The Communist
Manifesto" with Friedrich Engels.
Both men were born and brought up in Germany and spent much of their adult lives in Britain.

S:11
In 1848 Marx and Engels put forward the idea that capitalism would end and the workers would
take control of society and create a new society based on equality. This idea was called
communism.
It can also be called Marxist communism.

WHAT DO WE MEAN BY A COMMUNIST SYSTEM?
The simplest way to define communism is, From each according to his ability to each according
to his needs.

[Means that a society where each individual person will work according to his ability. If a person
is more fit than others, they will work more. But every person will get things according to his
basic needs and not more than that.

One of the key principles of communism is the concept of a classless society.

It is a society where there will be no discrimination, no class, no rich and poor, and no private
property according to this communist manifesto. It will be a self-governing, stateless,
cooperative society.]

This concept didn't work in large countries but may be applicable in small communities like
Auroville, in Tamil Nadu, India can be an example
