Analyzing strong and weak aspects of objective resolution

Features of Resolution in accordance with the vision of Quaid e Azam


Formation of Constitution of the State
According to the resolution the elected representatives of the assembly shall be responsible to
frame the constitution of the state keeping, and it should be beneficial for the people of Pakistan.
Quaid e Azam during his speech in 1947-stated that he wanted the Constitution of Pakistan an
example for the world. According to Quaid e Azam the Constituent Assembly has two main
functions first is to frame the constitution second to function as a complete sovereign body.

Representatives of the State


According to objective resolution the people of Pakistan shall elect their representatives. The
government shall form in a democratic way. Quaid e Azam during his address to the military staff
college said, “you are the servants of the state, you do not make policy it is we the people
representatives who decide how the country is to be run”
Provision of fundamental rights

The objective resolution gave rights to all religious bodies living in state of Pakistan. Quaid e
Azam during his address on 11th August 1947- said “ you are free, you are free to go to your
temples, you are free to go to your mosques or any other place of worship in state of Pakistan.”

Weak aspect of objective resolution


Objection by Non Muslims or minorities over Objective resolution

Threat to spirit of democracy


The minorities objected over the resolution as according to them it was mixing religion and politics
which might affect the spirit of democracy in Pakistan.
Establishment of a Theocratic State
The minorities feared that promotion of Shariah might encourage the religious extremists to
establish a Theocratic State.

Conclusion
The objective resolution remained ‘Preamble of all the constitutions due to its importance. The
objective resolution holds a basic and primary status in the Constitutional history of Pakistan. It
provides a framework to achieve better goals for the people of Pakistan.
