Abstract
In our report we want to outline the content of our report in this report, first
we describe the profile leveling they are branches of survey to measure a
height of specified relative points to a datum. then we used ordinary leveling
in our test, we say our purpose of this test is to determine the elevation
different points, and we show the apparatus used in this test, after that we
wrote the procedure of this test, first we prepare the tripod and we attach
the level to the tripod then we put staff at first point (bench mark) and adjust
level so bubble is centered, after that we take all reading, we need, finally we
find the elevations by Hi method and check our calculation. As well as we
make two table and first one for Hi method and second one then we draw the
all graphs that we need, after that we discuss about our test in university, we
did it and how was it, then we describe the conclusion.
Introduction
Profile leveling is a method of surveying that has been carried out along the
central line of a track of land on which a linear engineering work is to be
constructed. The fixed line is generally the center line of a highway, railway,
canal, sewer or any other such utility.
The fixed line need not be a single straight line, it may consist of different
straight reaches connected by curves. The ground profile is the section of the
ground obtained when a vertical plane cuts the ground surface. The ground
profile shows the elevations of the ground along the section.
The profile levelling is done to determine the undulations of the ground
surface. The ground profiles are used for the study of the relationship
between the existing ground levels and the levels of the proposed route.
The gradient line is drawn and the formation levels at various points are
determined and the amount of cutting and filling can be computed.

Purpose of the test

In profile leveling, we determine the elevations of a series of points
lengthwise along a highway.
Apparatus
1. Leveling Staff 2. Automatic level

3. Tripod 4. Pens 5. Notebook

6. Ruler 7. Calculator 8. Tape

Procedure
1. We measured the length of interval points, and marked it, distance
between interval 14m.

2. Set up the tripod.

3. Attach the level to the tripod.

4. Adjust level so bubble is centered.

5. Put the staff in a point (bench mark), assume the
elevation of the point to 70 m.

6. By Ordinary leveling take all the readings at all points we need about
profile.

7. Find the elevations of the points by HI method or Rise and Fall

method, finally check your calculation.
8. Draw the both graphs about profile and cross section.

Discussion
Profile leveling is a method of surveying that has been carried out along the
central line of a track of land on which a linear engineering work is to be
constructed/ laid. The operations involved in determining the elevation of
ground surface at small spatial interval along a line is called profile leveling.
The route along which a profile is run may be single straight line, as in case
of a short sidewalk; a broken line, as in the case of a transmission line or
sewer; or a series of straight lines connected by curves, as in case of a
railroad, highway or canal. Profile leveling is the operation in which the
object is to determine the elevation of points at known distance apart along a
given line, and thus to obtain the accurate outline of the surface of the
ground. It is called the longitudinal leveling or sectioning. The purpose of
profile leveling is to determine the changes in the elevation of the ground
surface along a definite line.
Conclusion
Profile leveling is a method in surveying where is has been carried out along
the central line of a track of land. Profile leveling is a method of surveying
that has been carried out along the central line of a track. From this
fieldwork we are able to learn hands on experience of surveying. A location
is selected where points are marked in a straight line with slope. Normally
the elevation is set to value of 100. Measuring tape is used in measuring the
distance between two points. Measuring tape need to be in a good condition
without wear and tear to increase the accuracy of results. Theodolite to be
adjusted where the spirit bubble is in the circular shape. Errors can be
checked by checking the sum of BS, IS, last RL and firs RL. In a nutshell,
we learn how to set up all the instrument and applying all the precaution to
minimize the errors can increasing the accuracy of results.
