MELCs Identify and explain the factors that affect potential and kinetic energy.
1 Identify and explain the POTENTIAL ENERGY AND Begin with the classroom routine:
factors that affect KINETIC ENERGY a. Prayer
potential and kinetic b. Reminder of the classroom
energy. health and safety protocols
c. Checking of attendance
d. Quick “kumustahan”
A. Preparation
The teacher will let the students
answer the “What I Know” part of their
module. They are to answer with letter
and words on a ¼ sheet of paper. The

B. Activity
Address: South Poblacion, San Fernando, Cebu 6018
Telephone Nos.: 415-9057
Email Address:
The teacher will show to the class ten
pictures of the situations that involve
application of forces acting on the
objects that are doing work. She will
ask volunteers from the class to give
their initial observations about the
figures illustrated.
C. Analysis
Based on the activity, the learners will
answer the following questions:
- What is common in the situations
given?
- What does an object require to do
work?
- What are these two types of energy
called?
D. Abstraction
After soliciting the answers of the
learners, the teacher will discuss briefly
the concepts that an object requires
energy to do work. Energy is the ability
or capacity to do work. Its unit is the
same as the unit of work, expressed in
joule (J) in the SI system.
E. Application
Let learners ask questions for
clarification. Let them list down five
situations for each type of energy on
their lecture notebook.
F. Assessment
The learners will answer the questions
found on Activity 1: Energy Crossword
Puzzle in the “What’s New” part of the
module to check their understanding of
the topic.
