d) Find the state of stress for an x, y, z coordinate system defined by
rotating x, y through an angle of 450 counterclockwise about z axis.
e) Determine the stress invariants for the state of stress obtained
above.
f) Compare the Invariants obtained in part a and part e.

4 Consider a point in a loaded instrument panel subjected to the stresses


represented in figure below. Determine using only Mohr’s circle

a) The principal stresses using Mohr’s circle


b) The orientation of principal stresses with respect to the original
system
c) Show principal stresses on properly oriented element
