STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Introduction:
As someone from a nation where tourism is highly appreciated, I have observed how the
tourism and hospitality industries are linked to a more generalized economic and social
phenomenon that is now essential to our economy. The industry has developed into a
significant source of wealth and one of Nepal’s primary economic drivers. The industry is
vibrant, interesting, and challenging, and provides promising opportunities for professional
and personal success. I can better position myself for the expansion of the industry and the
possibility of career promotion with a certificate IV in commercial cookery and diploma of
hospitality management. I’m convinced that the education I shall receive will help me acquire
the critical-thinking skills and positive management philosophies required in the international
tourism and hospitality industry. The course also places a strong emphasis on the
development of analytical skills, which are especially relevant to modern business and
management obligations in this rapidly expanding field.
I am motivated to enhance my professional knowledge and skills by realizing how rapidly the
hospitality sector is evolving. I'm Nita Tamang, daughter of Mr. Lal Bahadur Tamang and
Mrs. Ranjana Tamang, and a permanent resident of Samari, 05 Myagang, Nuwakot, Nepal. I
was born in December 3, 2001. I belong to a nuclear family with my father and mother. My
family is financially sound and will be sponsoring my study and stay in Australia.
Academic Qualification:
I’m seeking for a curriculum that will provide me with strong organizational and
management capabilities, as well as competent leadership and decision-making skills. I have
always cherished the opportunity to travel and explore different recipes. These characteristics
make me an excellent fit for the hospitality industry, which is a vivacious and constantly
evolving field. I have decided to get the certificate IV in commercial cookery and diploma of
hospitality management because of my propensity for this field. Regarding my academic
background, I completed my secondary schooling in 2018 with a 3.15 GPA from Tarun MA
VI, Balaju and continued on to earn my high school degree in management in 2020 with an
overall 3.25 GPA from Reliance International Academy. My alma mater is responsible for
adequately fostering my career interests and providing me with in-depth knowledge and skills
regarding business and management. Throughout my education, I successfully scooped up
both my academics and extracurricular activities, and improved my interpersonal and
communication skills by taking part in several cultural activities and sports. My practical skill
set was enhanced via training programs, academic assignments, and internships, which also
helped me become familiar with the fundamental concepts of management.
Similarly, I attended the IELTS exam on April 23, 2022, and scored overall band score of 5.5
with individual band score of listening 6.0, reading 5.0, Writing 5.5 and Speaking 5.5. With
this academic and English proficiency, I am planning to pursue the Certificate IV program in
Commercial Cookery and Diploma of Hospitality Management from Sydney City College of
Management, Sydney, Australia.
Reasons to choose Australia over Nepal:
The degree offerings in academic institutions in Nepal are very dissimilar from those in
Australian colleges and universities. Furthermore, Australia uses a practical teaching
approach, the most up-to-date methodologies, and an updated curriculum to produce
graduates who are ready for the workplace. This enhances the likelihood that a recent
graduate will join one of the top firms in the globe. Even the delivery methods for education
are well-equipped because the newest technology are used to educate students, such as smart
courses with projectors and other audio-visual aids.
Studying in Nepal would also limit my exposure to the outside world, which would impair
my odds of finding a satisfying career. An international degree is always more valuable and
recognized than a Nepalese degree since it has access to the most modern business practices
and a grasp of the advanced economy. Therefore, those with international qualifications are
always given preference in Nepal. Thus, I have chosen to pursue an international degree in
Australia rather than a domestic one because of all these benefits of studying abroad.
Reasons for not choosing other destinations
I conducted research on countries besides Australia, including Canada, the UK, and the USA.
However, I chose Australia because of a variety of factors. The US and the UK have greater
living expenses compared to Australia. Although Canada is one of the top places for higher
education, the wait time for student visas is too long. Canada was also removed from the list
of study destinations because of its record-breaking frigid temperatures. Instead, Australia's
climate is comparable to that of Nepal. Similar to the United States, European countries are
recognized for their high standards of education; nevertheless, due to the high cost of living
and the necessity of learning the native language, I opted not to pursue my studies there.
Australia also has a different approach to education than these European nations. I therefore
intend to advance my studies in Australia as it will assist me reach my objectives. I am
consequently motivated by my ambition for a future profession that looks more promising,
and I am excited to begin my educational journey in Australia. As a result, I made the
decision to study in Australia in order to get a top-notch education in the hospitality industry.
Why Sydney?
Sydney, the capital of the state of New South Wales (NSW) is one of the most populous cities
in Australia. It has also been recognized as one of the most livable cities in the world. Along
with top high-quality education, vast career opportunities and world class degrees, it is also
rich in natural beauties, culture, fashion, technology, business and many more. It is a
beautiful city with parks, sporting venues, scenic places and beaches including the famous
Bondi beach and many other beaches and also the most iconic structure Sydney Opera house
is also located here. Apart from this, Sydney is also the economic and financial hub of
Australia. Every institution in Sydney is highly reputed and prestigious. They are committed
to provide high quality education to students and bring the best out of them. The natives of
Sydney are warm and welcoming as well as the presence of people from different countries
and culture will help the students to adjust with each other. Sydney has an excellent public
transport system which is a comprehensive network of train, bus and ferry services, airplane
links, sightseeing buses and taxi services. And the climate is favorable with warm summers
and cool winters with rainfalls. Thus, beautiful city with many places to visit, friendly people
from different culture, institution providing high quality education, favorable climate with
tons of transportation means, incalculable opportunities, safety, hospitality and the positive
attitude of the natives towards the international students led me to choose Sydney as the best
destination for my further studies in Australia.
Why Sydney City College of Management (SCCM)?
The decision of which institution to attend is crucial to realizing one's career goals. Since I
had never traveled abroad and had no family in Australia, I found it difficult to choose an
appropriate institution. As a result, I researched several Australian schools based on my
academic interests and courses before deciding on SCCM. Students in programs like
hospitality management require a lot of practical experience and hands-on knowledge to
flourish in a professional setting. SCCM’s curriculum adequately addresses these issues by
including internships and case studies, allowing me to transfer knowledge more effectively. I
would be able to read about, comprehend, and explain a very broad range of academic and
industrial sources, case studies, and resources through the proposed programs at SCCM. I’m
interested in learning in-depth about current business and management practices in the
tourism and hospitality sectors, as well as how they relate to various organizational structures,
published contemporary financial methodologies, and various organizational contexts.
SCCM is a renowned education provider based in Sydney, Australia. It continues to take
pleasure in providing a wide variety of credentials, short courses, and consulting services in a
number of sectors. It has students from numerous nations, ethnicities, and backgrounds.
SCCM is a dynamic hub for education, knowledge exchange, and discovery. SCCM offers a
variety of services and programs to assist students who are studying abroad. It offers teaching
to people, groups, and communities with a variety of needs, interests, and histories. Its
qualifications include certificates I through IV, diplomas, advanced diplomas and graduate
diplomas. Its higher education and professional certifications are acknowledged on a national
and international level. The courses in SCCM are often shorter and more hands-on and
practical when compared to degree programmes from other institutions. Students will engage
in cross-cultural interaction while learning in modern settings that feature both real-world and
virtual scenarios. Its goal is to educate a community about business, the workplace, and
everyday life. Thus, I ultimately decided on SCCM due of its curriculum, costs, amenities,
cost of living, and other factors. I can earn my Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery and
Diploma of Hospitality Management for AUD 25,750 over the course of two years, which is
roughly within my budget. This institution also provides superb facilities as other academic
institutions, making it the most cost-effective option for international students.
Why Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery and Diploma of Hospitality Management?

Lately there is a drastic change in the perception of people towards hotels and hospitality in
our country as these sectors have now emerged as the best career options. Statistics suggests
that Nepal will need more than fifteen thousand skilled manpower to cater the growing
demand from the sector of hospitality in coming five years’ time. After the successful
completion of my course, I will gain thoroughly focused skill set in Hospitality Management
adequate enough to kick-start my career in the hospitality industry of Nepal. The professional
education from SCCM will prepare me to stand out of crowd and enrich my profile by
unlocking top employment opportunities. This qualification would further enable me to
augment my hospitality management dexterity and I envision myself working in a range of
hospitality management sector that include restaurants, hotels, motels, clubs, pubs, cafes, and
coffee shops, casinos, logistics, catering, banquet management and resorts. With adequate
experience and confidence, I would like to start my own restaurant serving authentic cuisine
from around the world. I am confident that the proposed degrees from SCCM is definitely
going to be a prominent factor in converting my ambition into reality.

Along with enhancing my leadership abilities, the proposed programs in commercial cooking
and hospitality management would also provide me with more knowledge about effective
management strategies. The hospitality industry depends on consumer referrals and
satisfaction to bring in more visitors, thus I think any company in the sector that focuses on
generating repeat business will be successful. I find the SCCM program particularly
appealing because it takes real-world experience to fully understand the complexities of fields
like hospitality. I'm looking forward to learning from industry experts, networking with like-
minded peers, and applying their knowledge and experience to advance my career in
hospitality management.

Career Goals:
I have always been drawn to the field of hospitality management since I was a child. I had the
opportunity to visit numerous tourist destinations while I was in school. I then began to have
a vision in my head and dream about working in the hospitality industry. I think that despite
its vast natural resources, Nepal has not made any major advancements in the hospitality
industry. Due to a shortage of professionals with knowledge of tourists, tourism, and
hospitality, we have not yet fully utilized the resources at our disposal. A significant number
of employments are created each year as the hospitality sector expands to become ubiquitous.
Consequently, there is a rise in the need for experts in hospitality management. The growing
popularity of the hospitality industry presents an opportunity for college students like myself
in terms of a career path.
After completing the proposed program, I am looking forward to improving my repertoire of
managerial skills needed to work in the Nepalese hotel industry. The rising number of
expected operations of new resorts and guesthouses is attracting more investors to Nepalese
hospitality sector. The hotel business in Nepal has benefited from supportive government
policies, and it has become one of the country’s economic pillars. The rapid expansion and
increase in guest arrivals in Nepal has made it difficult for Nepalese hotels to recruit the
professionals they need to manage their businesses efficiently. The excellent tourism
reputation of Nepal and the ongoing expansion of tourist infrastructure bode well for growth,
allowing more Nepalese to benefit from it. The key to the growth of Nepalese tourism sector
is by providing internationally competitive services by a workforce that is well-trained and
able to develop and change within the workplace. As a qualified hospitality manager, I would
be extra cautious when it comes to hosting high-profile guests, coordinating resources,
ensuring an appropriate supply of commodities, and monitoring service quality. I envision my
professional life will allow me to meet people from all walks of life and develop a cultural
awareness of civilizations from all over the world.
Cost Analysis and Return of Investment:
I will shell out almost AUD 65,000.00, or nearly NPR 5,700,000.00, for my education in
Australia, which includes my tuition, OSHC, an enrollment fee, materials fees, and living
expenses for two years. Without factoring in living expenditures, the cost of a bachelor's
degree in hospitality management in Nepal and India is around NPR 25,00,000 and NPR
30,00,000 respectively. Therefore, it will cost me much less to get my bachelor's degree in
Nepal than it would in Australia. However, competition is intensifying, particularly in the
hospitality industry, and reputable businesses are increasingly seeking new skill sets that
combine knowledge and expertise. Moreover, I will miss the chance to experience cutting-
edge technologies, innovative lifestyles, or scientific discoveries by studying in Nepal. These
qualities make us the most sought-after individuals and are essential to establishing a
successful career in hospitality management.
When I return home, I plan to work as a front office manager or a manager of food and
beverage operations at a variety of upscale and chain hotels, such the Hyatt Regency, Crown
Plaza Soaltee, Annapurna, Radisson, and others. Depending on the organization, I will
receive a satisfactory remuneration (NRS. 100,000-150,000). As time passes by, I will have
the opportunity to take on more responsibility, which might boost my understanding and
confidence to significantly advance the hotel management industry in Nepal. With all the
knowledge and expertise I shall accumulate over the years of working and learning about
market strategies, I also have a dream to launch a hotel and travel agency. I'm confident that
with continued hard effort, I will succeed in realizing this dream. I also have obligations to
my nation and the Nepalese community. Additionally, I am confident that my studies in
Australia will help me compete in the competitive business market and provide customers
with an international experience.
Incentives to Return Back:
I am also aware of the responsibilities I have as an international student in Australia. I have to
be there for my parents as they age since I am responsible for providing for them. The depth
of their love will also always draw me back to my country of origin. I must remain with my
family in order to complete the rituals and ceremonies in the future because we Nepalese
follow every ceremony with utmost devotion. I want to reassure you that my only goal in
visiting Australia is to pursue a high-quality education and return back to Nepal as a skilled
professional.
I want to make it clear that the only reason I will be in Australia is to complete a high-quality
education at a reputable institution so I may use my expertise to improve the hospitality
management in my homeland Nepal. I will always love my family and my nation. My family
has always been there for me through every stage of my life, and because of their
encouragement, I am able to pursue my education in Australia as well. Whatever success I
achieve in the future will be a direct result of my parents' efforts. So, after finishing my study
in Australia, I'll head back to Nepal to start a profession while residing with my own family.
My friends and relatives back home are very important to me because I was born and raised
there and will miss both living there and the fragrance of my country's fresh, moist soil.
Financial Arrangements:
My parents have sound financial status and can uphold my expense of studies with no stretch.
I have attached the income status letter herewith which guarantees that they are absolutely
prepared to manage the costs I am bound to incur during my stay in Australia. A summary of
the statement has been presented below:
Annual Income Generation: NRS. 2,724,560.00 (AUD 31,414.27)
Education Loan of NRS. 4,000,000.00 (AUD 44,458.37)
Thus, I believe the resources possessed by my sponsors would ensure the smooth
reimbursements of any cost, be it anticipated or unanticipated, while I pursue my studies in
Australia. The bank loan is solely intended to recompense the expenses incurred in due
course of my studies.
Knowledge regarding VISA subclass 500:
From the websites like www.homeaffairs.gov.au and www.studyinaustralia.gov.au, I came to
know about the visa terms and conditions for international student in Australia which are
listed below:
I. I must have been accepted to study full-time at an educational institute in Australia.
II. A Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) must be included for the intended course of study.
III. My application must satisfy the Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement.
IV. I understand that my sponsors are financially strong enough to cover the expenses during
my stay in Australia.
V. I must have adequate health insurance which can be obtained from Overseas Students
Health Cover (OSHC).
VI. The visa allows me to stay in Australia for the duration of my course.
Declaration:
I am very clear and honest in intention to return to my homeland after completion of my
studies. I assure that my aim to be in Australia is solely for study purpose. I promise to obey
all the rules and regulations of the Australian Government and the institutions. I would like to
request you to consider my application and grant me permission to study in Australia. Your
consideration in this regard will be highly appreciated.
I would like to thank you for your support in an advance. If you have any queries, I request
you to make phone call or email me for clarification.
Your Sincerely
Nita Tamang
