Appeal letter

Date: XXXXXXXX
To
The Canadian High Commission,
New Delhi, India

Subject: Application for study permit. (Re-apply)

UCI: XXXXXXX
Application No: XXXXXXX
My name is Bijita Gurung, aged XXX and a permanent resident of Naya Bazar, Pokhara, Nepal.
I had submitted an application to Canadian High Commission to issue me the study-permit so
that I could undertake my diploma studies in Social Service Worker at Seneca College.
Unfortunately, I have been denied the Canadian Student Visa, which according to the refusal
letter states that I mightn't complete the program successfully due to low language test result,
and I do not posses sufficient financial resources to justify that I shall return duly to Nepal after
completing my studies. The primary objective of this letter is to clarify these ambiguities through
convincing arguments.

Social work is a diverse and multi-skilled profession. I am specifically driven to pursue this
diploma degree to be able to promote and advocate awareness of injustices in our society
through the professional standards and work with people, families and communities to promote
positive change and address inequalities through advocacy. Unfortunately, I couldn't achieve a
desirable score in the IELTS test to shoulder the academic load. However, as they say, "Those
who keep trying never lose", I motivated myself to re-sit for the test and scored 7 (L- 8.5, S-
6.5,R-6.5,W-6.5). Hence, with this score, I have proven that I shall not encounter major problems
with respect to language proficiency during my academic voyage in Canada.

Secondly, I would like to apprise you that my parents, whom I'd be referring as my sponsors
hereafter, have a solid financial background and are comfortably able to bear the expenses I shall
incur during my stay in Canada. My father accumulates around NRS. 2,175,381.90 per year from
business while my mother collects NRS. 1,018,385.75 annually through her personal business.
So, the combined total income of my sponsors is NRS. 3,193,767.65, which is equivalent to
CAD 37,292.94. Furthermore, my mother owns a plot of land and a building in Kaski whose
valuations according to the certified civil engineer is NRS. 18,972,350.00 (CAD 221,536.08).
My mother has also maintained the bank account balance equivalent to CAD 44,084.00. Thus,
the personal assets and income standings shown hereupon are adequate enough to revoke the
doubts raised with respect to the financial status of my sponsors. In addition to that, I have paid a
full year tuition fee for my course. I have attached the verified reports with regard to these
statements.

Professional social work practice is distinctive from other helping professions in its approach of
assisting clients to function optimally within their environments. The person-in-environment
approach is central to social work practice. Through this perspective, professional social workers
are uniquely trained to help families, groups, organizations, and communities maximize the
opportunity for change in themselves and/or their situations. Social work is also distinctive for its
professional values and ethics, appreciation for human diversity, emphasis on social and
economic justice, understanding of social welfare policy and services, and strong foundation in
field education. After earning diploma in social work, I look forward to share my knowledge and
skills and hope to make a noticeable change in the socio-economic system of Nepal.
Furthermore, I will be able to use all the learning skill in my home country especially in the rural
areas of my country where still thousands of people die due to lack of proper health services and
illiteracy. I believe that the pursuant of the diploma degree will flourish my ability with which I
can excel myself well and contribute towards the development of the social sector of Nepal.

Lastly, studying the Social Service course in Canada would help me best with my academic
pursuits and will be a major step towards attaining my objectives in life. So, I humbly request
you to re-consider my application and help me transform my plans into action. I want to flourish
on my own land along with my own people and do something remarkable for improving their
living standard.

I look forward to your positive response.

Thank You.

Kind Regards,

Bijita Gurung
