Nursing practice goes beyond complying with routines and protocols, it also requires

putting intellectual and intuitive resources into practice for decision-making tailored to the
particular needs of the patient (Gebre, 2019). So professional practice implies the delivery
of individualized care where it intervenes as a therapeutic resource in order to alleviate the
patient in the transition of illness and health.
Orem's general theory, based on six conceptual axes that revolve around self-care and a
peripheral concept (Kotzabassaki, 2022), which reaffirm that care includes affective
aspects, related to attitude and commitment, as well as technical elements that They must
be integrated into nursing practice.
One of the aspects that this theory could limit the field of action of the nurse is related to
the environment, since generally these types of patients have little interaction with close
family members who are under their care (Stelio, 2022). Thus, the application of
knowledge and extension through an educational component contributes positively when
comprehensive care is aligned with the commitment and attitude of the nurse. On the
contrary, complications and hospital readmissions can arise in most cases. So I think that it
is a component that can leave a gap in relation to the role of the nurse from a
comprehensive approach in decision-making and it is not essential so that with the rest of
the components framed in comprehensive care through an intervention focused on external
resources such as etiology, disease and treatment.
