Connection & Disconnection

Introduction:
The idea of connection is very physical. Whenever one talks about connection it tends to be
visualized tangibly. Whereas it can be very intangible as well.
This idea came to mind when I saw an Audi show room on the outskirts of Lahore and I was
amazed on why would someone build an Audi showroom in such a middle class society where
there is hardly anyone who can afford an Audi. But through further investigation I found out that
So, the showroom serves an elitist community that is very disconnected from where it actually is.
Thus, this observation creates a question in my mind.
“Can two things be connected yet disconnected at the same time?”

Problem:
The phenomenon of how different buildings have an intangible connection between them. How
this phenomenon can be employed in architecture to design.

Aims & Objectives:

 To understand how different buildings are interconnected intangibly.
 To inform two or more buildings through each other unphysically.

Research Objectives:
 Effects of one building on another.
 Intangible modes of communication across programs.
 Subconscious effects of two buildings on one another.

Significance:
The significance of this project lies in understanding how architecture connects intangibly
through time and space.

Scope of Work:
 Surveys and analysis of intangible effects across buildings.
 Detail design of concluded buildings with an intangible effect on one another.
