There are several types of burns

Thermal - raise the temperature of the skin and tissues and cause tissue cell death or charring

Depth of thermal burns

Superficial (1st degree)

Superficial Partial Thickness (2nd degree)

Deep Partial Thickness (2nd Degree)

Smoke inhalation- when a person breathe in the products of combustion during a fire.
Chemical - burns are due to strong acids, alkalies, detergents, or solvents coming into contact with the
skin or eyes.

Electrical- when the body comes in contact with an electric current

Radiation- burns are due to prolonged exposure to ultraviolet rays of the sun, or to other sources of
radiation such as X-ray
