PROLOGUE

OLD LADY:

Ah my waist [sits down].

Where are these children? [shouts their names] Ada, Kokor and Sika. Come and let me tell you some
anansesem. But this anansesem is waaayy different from the usual. It’s a story about three
friends. Gyamfuah, Suanzzy and Poroo. It starts like this.

SCENE 1

(The scene opens to a roadside where Gyamfuah, Poroo and Suanzzy were on their way
home from a party. They start to chitchat and converse among themselves what happened
at the party. They begin to talk about how well their businesses have improved. Gyamfuah
talks about how she prices her customers based on their appearance. Poroo talks about
how he gets rich clients to scam and is gaining lots of profits. Suanzzy overemphasizes on
her features and how she uses it to grab older men’s attention to get what she wants. They
all laugh it off and part ways to their various homes.)

SUANZZY: Today’s party was lit!

GYAMFUAH: Yes oo, Suanzzy baby. We had lots of fun.

SUANZZY: Yh, we would have to come here more often. The other club is now outdated

POROO: [Holding a beer] Yes, I really enjoyed myself. And the way the bad bitches were twerking err, I
even took their numbers. I have to look sharp and get my fill. And now, I’ve got more clients,
meaning more money [Laughs]

[All three laugh]

GYAMFUAH: [Turns to Poroo and holds his shoulder] Eeii Poroo, but this your scamming business is
booming oo. You have to be sponsoring us more often. We are your girls naa.

SUANZZY: Yes oo, don’t give all the money to those side chicks oo
POROO: Oh, don’t you trust me? [The girls give him praises] Don’t worry kraa, we are in this together.
[Turns to Gyamfuah] How are things at your shop?

GYAMFUAH: Very well. You know, with the way Ghana’s economy is going, one has to play smart in the
market. [Speaking proudly] I determine the prices of my goods just by looking at the person.
And it’s very good because the rich would always pay for expensive things [Laughs] They think
expensive things are the best products. Poor people dieer, they always complain of prices.

POROO: Oh, forget them. They should be smart and make money so they can buy whatever they want,
just like me.

SWANZZY: But Gyamfuah, you do well oo. I don’t have patience for such customers. I work with serious
people. [Speaking proudly and showing of her boobs and ass] I service my Sugar Daddys very
well and they pay me very well. I’ve got no time for these poor people. If you want quality,
you’ve got to pay for it.

POROO: Herrh, you dieer I dey trust you waa. U be too much. [Shows the gesture] I salute.

[All three laugh]

GYAMFUAH: There’s never a dull moment with you guys. [Speaks affectionately] I love you so much.
But the I have to head home now. We would catch up later.

[They say their goodbyes, Gyamfuah leaves the stage from one side, Poroo and Swanzzy leave from
the other side]

(An evangelist preaches on the path Gyamfuah takes home, and she decides to give him a
listening ear. She then finds interest in the word and decides to know more about it. The
evangelist then talks to her about Christ. The words that really stuck with Gyamfuah were
“Life in Christ is prosperous”. She eventually gives her life to Christ.)

EVANGELIST 1: [Preaching by the road side]

SERMON
[Gyamfuah enters the stage as preaching is on-going. She hears the sermon and decides to
wait and listen more.]

GYAMFUAH: [Speaks to herself] Eeeii, I didn’t know that life in this so called Jesus Christ is that good
oo. Let me try it and see. Besides, I just have to change my ways and still live a good life. This
is great. I have to go tell my Husband.

[Exits stage without waiting for sermon to end.]

SCENE 2

Gyamfuah then comes home with excitement to share this great news with her husband. She says a
whole lot to him and stresses the importance of them being saved and serving God as a
family. She adds, “Maybe that could be the reason why I have not been able to conceive yet.”
Kofi Johnson gives a deaf ear to her words and snubs her. She then calls her friends and tells
them she wants to have a talk with them early in the morning the following day.

SCENE 3

They meet up at their usual joint, and Suanzzy asks Gyamfuah for the purpose of the meeting.
Gyamfuah begins to talk about what she heard from the evangelist on her way home and how
she has given her life to Christ so she also wants her friends to do same. Poroo begins to
murmur about him leaving his client whom he was scamming and could have gained a large
sum of money but put it on hold because he thought this was an important meeting. Suanzzy
also talks about how she had an appointment with one of her sugar daddies but canceled it
because of this meeting. They both speak intermittently with anger. Gyamfuah tries to explain
that it is indeed important, and they should give Jesus a try, but the more she speaks, they
more annoyed they get. Eventually, Suanzzy and Poroo get up and leave.
