Aubrey Drake Graham (Toronto, Ontario, October 24, 1986), known simply as Drake, is
a Canadian rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer and actor. He originally became
known for playing the character Jimmy Brooks on the television series Degrassi: The
Next Generation. He later rose to fame as a rapper, releasing several mixtapes before
signing with Lil Wayne to American record company Young Money Entertainment in
June 2006.

At the age of 15, Drake met an agent, the father of a high school friend. The agent
found him a role in the Canadian television series Degrassi: The Next Generation, for
him to play Jimmy Brooks in 2001; in the show, Brooks is a basketball star who became
physically disabled after being shot by a classmate. He continued his acting career in
Degrassi until 2009, when the producers decided to renew the group with new actors. In
total, he appeared in 138 episodes of the series.

In his youth, he played minor hockey with the Weston Red Wings. He then began
attending Forest Hill Collegiate Institute High School, where he began acting, but did not
graduate.13 It was the first of two high schools he attended; He later went to Vaughan
Road Academy, which he also did not graduate from, describing it as "By no means the
easiest school to go to. It's a tough school."[14] Despite dropping out of high school, he
graduated years later, in October 2012.15 Drake has dual citizenship: Canadian and
American.

In his early years, Drake lived in two different places due to his parents' divorce. Most of
his time was spent in the middle class of Toronto. He witnessed his father's arrest,
which he describes by saying: "The fact that he didn't have a father is because he was
in jail twice, once for two years and once for three years, respectively. He was there
when he was arrested, we had reached Memphis." Drake said that his parents' divorce
greatly affected him as a person, saying, "I had to be a man very quickly and be the
pillar of a woman that I love with all my heart, my mother." At the age of 24, Drake
commented on his early years saying, "I've seen a lot, I put it this way. I've been with
the most blessed children in the world, I've been with people whose lives are right at the
bottom of the any".
