MODULE 5 ASSIGNMENT 1

Task:

Write your experience or insights on how the youth today shows confidence and interest in using their
mother tongue. Do the youth still value the language they were brought up with? Explain your answer.

As a youth in this generation, I witness how the youth shows their confidence and interest using their
mother tongue by participating in debates, participating in school activities regarding their mother
tongue and etc. For me participating in debates is one of their way in showing their confident and
interest in mother tongue because it’s not easy to compete in debate especially when you are not
confident. Aside from that participating in “Buwan ng Wika” in the school is also their way in showing
their interest because in our generation most of the youth didn’t value their language because they
think that it is not that important. They think that English language is much important than our mother
tongue, aside from that they think that they can’t use it when they are working but then for me that is
wrong because not everyone can understand English. In my opinion, there are few who value the
language they were brought up with. Youths that understand how important the mother tongue is.
