Sec B,150085 Q1. HOW CAN VOICE ASSISTANCE CAN HELP YOU? Ans - Voice assistants are devices/apps that use voice recognition technology, natural language processing, and AI to respond to humans. Using the technology, the device synthesises the user’s message, breaks it down, evaluates it, and offers a meaningful response in return. We can use them to perform various task like --- Talk instead of type If your hands are exhausted from typing, turn to your voice assistant as a transcription service. Do research Giving your brain a rest from the screen helps improves creativity. Just Ask Google or one of other voice assistants to call up a Wikipedia page, news articles, or other content, and it will read the page aloud for you. Keep track of your to-dos Use voice to keep up with your task list throughout the day. When an idea strikes me at random, and I’m not near my phone, I can ask my home speakers to add them to To do list, which works with Google Assistant, Siri, and Alexa. Keep a schedule Use voice to help you update your schedule while you’re on-the-go, remind yourself of meetings, and keep track of your calendar throughout the day. Stock market If you’re trying to decide whether it’s a good time to buy, sell, or hold, use voice to ask for the price of a stock or index. For example, on Siri, you can say: “Hey Siri, show Dow Jones,” or “Hey, Siri, what is Apple stock at today?” Q2. WHAT ARE RISK OF OR NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCES OF USING VOICE ASSISTANCE? Ans- Data security concerns Although consumers are using voice assistants more often, there is still great concern over the data these devices collect and the companies behind the apps on those devices. Consumers are wary of how the data is stored, who looks at it, and what happens to that information. Marketers will have to address those data and privacy concerns, or they will not get access to these prospects and their information. Leads to lost concentration on the task in hand Using a virtual assistant with voice recognition can cause you to lose concentration on the tasks in hand. You are giving attention to the virtual assistant when providing instructions and trying to accomplish the task in hand at the same time. When the attention is divided, you are prone to making a mistake. So, before giving instructions to a virtual assistant, make sure to stop whatever you are doing. Lack of Accuracy and Misinterpretation Voice recognition software won't always put your words on the screen completely accurately. Programs cannot understand the context of language the way that humans can, leading to errors that are often due to misinterpretation. When you talk to people, they decode what you say and give it a meaning. Voice recognition software can do this but may not be capable of choosing the correct meaning. For example, it cannot always differentiate between homonyms, such as "their" and "there." It may also have problems with slang, technical words and acronyms. Physical Side Effects If you use voice recognition technology frequently, you may experience some physical discomfort and vocal problems. Talking for extended periods can cause hoarseness, dry mouth, muscle fatigue, temporary loss of voice and vocal strain. The fact that you aren't talking naturally may make this worse and you may need to learn how to protect your voice if you'll use a program regularly.
