IBM - International Business Machines Corporation is an American MNC headquartered

organisation which beholds many projects under it. The IBM India Pvt Ltd is the Indian
subsidiary of IBM, founded in 1992. The headquarters is in Bengaluru. The Managing
director of IBM India is Mr. Sandip Patel, and he is also heading the south Asia. It has
facilities in many cities including Noida, Gurugram, Pune, etc. The organisation deals with
the computer hardware, consulting, and IT services. IBM was founded in 1911 in Endicott,
New York as the Computer-Tabulating-Recording company later get the name ‘International
Business Machine’. The Founder of IBM was Charles Renlett Flint. The total working
employees are approximately 3,45,000 and in India, there are around 140,000 employees.
IBM is a big name in technology industry, as it has various branch all over the world. It was
too obvious to know that all the product that IBM launches is not successful some of them
failed as well. But one thing that held true was the work-culture of the organization and might
be that was the reason IBM dominated the Twentieth- century market power and Anti-trust.
Then what became the reason of employee’s distrust in the company and making them leave
their hard-earned positions. Well, the answer to that is as they say, people don’t leave
company but leave their superiors. Yes, few managers/seniors have level of understanding,
but exceptions are everywhere. IBM went through phase where if you ask your manager for
growth in terms of salary, better job prospects or growth, they look clueless and helpless in
most of the cases. So due to no growth path defined for employees, they leave IBM. Overall,
some of the employee’s profile were overqualified in comparison to their salary. When they
were asked to increase the salary not any good enough action was taken which made even the
experienced employees to leave the organization. And these trends get followed up since
2020, but when the new CEO Mr Arvind Krishna replaced the Mr Ginni Rometty in 2020,
things started to change. He came up with different focus and approaches for future
development of IBM. His focus is to make IBM the next big thing in AI and Hybrid cloud.
This is the prime reason he knows that for this sort of high-quality work he has to matchup
with the employees demand too for the expected output.
