In this modern world we need to adapt to the new technologies, Most of the energy

sources that are currently relied on are limited and will run out due to increasing demand (Zoghi

et al., 2017). Solar panel is one of the latest technology that is invented to solve the global

warming and dependent to non-renewable energy. As a renewable source of power, it plays an

important role in reducing greenhouse gas emission and lessen the effect of climate change,

which can cause air and water pollution that will affect humans, wildlife, and ecosystems.

Solar panels has different classifications and specifications, it determines the production

of electricity. The Climate of the Philippines is tropical and maritime. It is characterized by

relatively high temperature, high humidity and abundant rainfall. Using temperature and rainfall

as bases, the climate of the country can be divided into two major seasons, the rainy season, from

June to November, and the dry season, from December to May. The dry season may be

subdivided further into the cool dry season, from December to February, and the hot dry season,

from March to May (pagasa.dost.gov.ph).

The rain gauge that we have in the present is manual collection of data. In this study, the

researcher proposed to develop the present rain gauge. The researcher’s aims to create a solar

powered rain gauge to improve the way on how to collect data and monitoring the real time

immediate record of rain scale in a particular area. The researchers planned to use

monocrystalline solar panels, to power our rain gauge, monocrystalline solar panels are best for

areas where there is limited in space since it produce more electricity on a lower scale, it can also

draw out the maximum amount of energy even in areas of lower sunlight. The monocrystalline

solar panel is the ideal solar panel that can continuously supply power to the rain gauge in a

continuous cloudy and rainy seasons.
