This bundle gives you everything you need to prepare for a substitute in your classroom.
Everything in this bundle works together to create a “done-for you” Art Substitute Binder that
will guide your substitute through your classroom procedures and give them simple lessons to
teach while you are gone. No more rushing to school when you already feel sick to prepare for

If you’ve been itching to squeeze in an art summer

camp before school starts or want to start the school
year with lessons that focus on students’ names, the
Graffiti & Typology Bundle is a bundle you want to
check out. The lessons feature some famous
contemporary artists such as Banksy and
Keith Haring, who made their mark in a
unique way on the art world. Students will
get to create art that features their name,
initial or a favorite quote, which is
always a great way to create student
engagement.

How did you become an art teacher?

Looking for a good international school, I met the
owners of Creative Minds American School. I applied
for my son Matteo in the school and at the end of the
school year, as they knew I was a fashion designer,
they asked me to design all the costumes for their end
of the year musical. After the great success we had
with the performance, they asked me to join them as
an art teacher. To be honest, I didn't know where to
start, I was almost in panic, but fortunately I started
researching on the internet and with the great help and
support of the owner of the school, I started my journey
as an art teacher.

What’s something that lights you up when you’re teaching? 

I always try to connect with my students, to let them understand
they all have great potential and creativity, and that I am there to
guide them. I teach from 1st to 12th grade, so the approach of
course is completely different, but what I really want is for each
of them to enjoy the creative process!

What inspired you to join the Sparklers Club? 

I ran into the DSS website during my first years of teaching.
DSS website, first of all, caught my attention; I just loved the layout,
the graphic design and the colorful look! Once I started exploring the
website, I realized it was very well done and full of interesting resources for me
and all teachers. I found Patty so welcoming and open, and I loved her professional generosity. I
found in her some aspects that are in me as well.

Do you have any words of encouragement for art teachers right now? 
Yes I do! Be empathetic with your students. Have a lot of patience, strength, and infinite
dedication. Be open and honest to your students, you are not perfect and let them know it, this
creates a connection! Be strong, teaching art is very stressful but so worthwhile!

Draw Along Videos

The Substitute Plan 2.0 bundle

features seven draw along videos to
make planning for a sub effortless! The
videos leads students through the
drawing steps of each lesson, so even
substitutes who aren't trained in art can
lead successful and engaging classes
when you're absent.

Gold Star Sparkler Bundle

We've created a special bundle as a bonus

just for our Gold Star Sparklers. This
bundle features seven of Patty's
favorite lessons, which were tried and
tested in her own classroom. From
Royal Pooches to a multi-faceted
sketchbook lesson for seventh graders,
this bundle is a gold mine of engaging
lessons exclusively for our Gold Star
Sparklers. Gold Star Sparklers are long-
time members of the Sparklers Club
who have unlocked all bundles
available in the membership. This
bundle will be automatically unlocked
for anyone who has achieved Gold
Star status. Monthly unlocks cannot
be used for this bundle.
