All: Good afternoon everyone.

Today we would like to report on our group presentation

from Week 6 lesson on Evaluating and Making Judgements.

Rania: But first, let's play a game called Unscramble It. Simply rearrange the jumbled
letters to form a meaningful word. If you wish to answer, please raise your hand and
write it in the blank box provided.

Game 1:
1. It is the act or result of evaluating, and assessment is its synonymn. What do you
think it is? (EVALUATION)

2. This is a process of forming an evaluation and its synonym is opinion. Guess the
word. (JUDGEMENT)

3. The act or process of deciding and also known as reolution. What exactly is the
word? (DECISION)

Rania: If you notice, these words are all related to our lesson, which we will be reporting
on. And now let's get back to it.

Rania: (Read the text on the manila paper.)

Olyver: When we say subjective, it is anything that is based on personal opinion,

judgement, feelings, or point of view. And in adressing this concern, Criteria have been
helpful tools in establishing objectivity and in evaluating a text.

Kim: When we say objective it is the opposite of subjective, which is factual and based
on observations and measurements.

Rania: Here, we have a comparison chart that shows the difference between objective
and subjective.

Kim: 1. Objective based upon observation of measurable facts while subjective is a

personal opinion, assumptions, and interpretations.

Olyver: 2. Objective is commonly found in encyclopedias, textbooks, and news reporting

whereas subjective is in newspaper editorials, blogs, biographies and comments on the
internet.

Kim: 3. Objective is usually suitable for decision making, whereas subjective is usually
not.
Olyver: 4. Objective is appropriate for news reporting while subjective is unsuitable.

Rania: Also, these are some tips to help you become more objective in your evaluation
and judgment.

Olyver: First, read critically

Kim: Second, detach from your biases

Olyver: And lastly, take down notes

Kim: And now that we've finished it, we'll move on to the second game to see if you all
understand the lesson. We'll just show pictures with text and ask you to raise your hand
if you know whether it's objective or subjective.

Game 2:
• Picture 1: Lisa is taller than Maya. (OBJECTIVE)

• Picture 2: My friends tell me that this movie is interestin. ( SUBJECTIVE)

• Picture 3: The children wear their uniforms at school. (OBJECTIVE)

Olyver: Do you have any clarifications or questions for the last minute? Feel free to
raise your hand.
