interviewer and the interviewee.
Who is an Interviewer and who is an Interviewee?
An interviewer is the person that asks several questions or conductions all the stages to obtain the
employee of the organization he/she is representing on the interview process.
An interviewee is the person who is seeking for a position in the organization as an employee, he/she is

In an interview process there are various stages to follow, which are the stages or steps of the whole
interview process.
1.3 STAGES OF INTERVIEW PROCESS
Firstly, Writing a Job description, the interviewer describes or explain a bit about the job, the position
applying for in the organization and short information of the job or work. Without the job description the
applicant or interviewee does not know if there is going to be an interview.
Secondly, Is posting the job, the job description is now posted on newspapers, organizations’ website or
other digital platforms for people tending to apply for the job to see in order to request for the interview.
During writing the job application letter to request the interview should include where he/she saw the job
post, hence it is very important.
Thirdly, scheduling interviews, there after all these two steps then interviews should be scheduled with
date and time and posted to the applicants of the interview.

Fourthly, conducting preliminary2 interviews, the initial interviews should be done to the interviewees

5| P a g e
The interview process are important because they help the experts know who is efficient and who is not
efficient. Not just this, but also you get to know the other different traits of the applicants, thus helping in
judging better who will be able to be good in the particular field.
According to wisestep, the person can be evaluated well by the manner he or she communicates. Their
good speaking skills obviously cannot be known through their writing, but through the way one utters. So,
this is also one of the reasons of knowing the importance of the interviews during the recruiting process.
Another benefit of an interview process is the social behavior of the individual is analyzed. When a
person speaks, his body language, the words he or she make use are assessed and the basic etiquette are
counted.

2.0 CURRICULUM VITAE (CV)

2.1 INTRODUCTION TO CURRICULUM VITAE (CV)
According to American Heritage Dictionary, A curriculum vitae Latin for “course of life” often shortened
as CV or vita (genitive case, vitae), is a written overview of someone’s life’s work, academic formation,
publications, qualifications.
Vitae often aim to be a complete record of someone’s career and can be extensive to purposes of
employment and recent highlights.
The curriculum vitae is a detailed biographical description of one’s educational and work background. A
one page description of ones work experience and educational background not only in length but also in
detail. (Jackson, A 2003:1).
Whether a potential employer or an organization or company is seeking for an employee the curriculum
vitae (CV) they are looking for a document that proves why you are the ideal candidate or fit position for
the job to invest their time and money.

2.2 ELEMENTS OF A CURRICULUM VITAE (CV)

There is no universally accepted format, elements or contents of a CV they vary according to the job post.
But a CV must include very important features including your personal contact details, academic
qualifications, work experience and many other details.
But also, information such as nationality, age and driving license status are optional to include into the
curriculum vitae (CV).
As written above there is no universally accepted format, but your CV should at least cover up the
following elements;
Your details; The name of the applicant, address, mobile/phone numbers, email address so that the
employer can reach to you easily also the information such as nationality, age and driving license status
are optional according to Monster worldwide, 2021.
Work experience; Here an applicant lists the most recent position first that has hold in various
organizations or companies, and continuing in reverse chronological order including location, website,

6| P a g e
name and dates of the time of employment for each company, one may highlight and show his or her
responsibilities and achievements, This shows the applicants experience.

Personal Statement; Here an applicant may relate his or her personal life relations, this may capture
employer’s attention and entices them or motivate to call you for the interview so that he or she can find
out more about the applicant.

Personal Skills; whether you realize it or not you will have picked up many skills over the years, some
tangible, some less so. Include every IT package or programme you have used as well as any foreign
language skills you have gained, and state whether you're at a basic, intermediate or advanced level. Skills
such as communication and project management are harder to substantiate and should be backed up with
examples. Example one who can be able to speak various languages or up to three languages
maybe Kiswahili, French, English and Chinese. These skills may include hard and soft skills for
example; soft skills: (being responsible, loyal, hardworking, energetic, and outgoing.)
Hard skills: (research and writing, Microsoft word 98, Microsoft Publisher 2000, Public speaking.).

Hobbies and Interests; including these is optional and often used to fill up space at the end of the
document. The idea is to give the interviewer a more rounded picture and, perhaps, something more
personal to discuss at an interview. Include your role in the position, the organization and dates.

Example:
Captain, Morogoro Secondary School, Football Team, 2015-2016.

References; It's not necessary to list referees on your CV, but you should state that details are
available on request. If this is your first job, it's a good idea to nominate tutors or mentors. You'll
obviously need to choose references that you're confident will give positive remarks, but you should
also make sure they would be easily contactable by potential employers when the time comes. They
may include 3 to 5 people or more than 5 people, they may include Teacher/Professor Work supervisor
(current or past) Character reference (Pastor, Headmaster, youth group leader or someone who knows
you well). Include the name, relationship to you, organization, contact phone numbers.

Other Considerations
Limit your CV to one or two pages.
Do not include birth date, health status or social security number.
Limit the use of personal pronouns such as "me”. Begin sentences with action verbs.
Be honest but avoid writing anything negative in your resume.
Make your CV is error free. Have someone proof read it for you.
Use a simple, easy to read font style, 10-14 point.
Use high quality paper.

For your CV to be scan able it should use Sans Serif type, little formats, no Italics, and no underlining.
When developing an e-mail able CV, contact the company for specific guidelines if they are not provided
in the application materials.

3.0 THE CONNECTION BETWEEN INTERVIEW PROCESS AND A CURRICULUM VITAE (CV).

We have previously discussed the Interview process widely, including its definition, their participants, the
stages and its importance in organizations. But also we have discussed about the Curriculum Vitae (CV)
or Resume, its contents or elements.

Hence let us see the connection of these two; the interview process and a curriculum vitae, we are ought
to see how an interview process can link with a curriculum vitae or how they associate or how do they
relate.

According to Webster dictionary, a relationship in which a person or thing is linked or associated with
something else, contextual relation or association in this connection the word has a different meaning.

Firstly, an interview process and a curriculum vitae have a two-way relationship, this means that they
depend on each other in such that an interview process depends on a curriculum vitae and a curriculum
vitae depends on an interview process. This can be shown whereby an employer receives the curriculum
vitae of an applicant of the job post then if he or she approves it then can call upon an interview, also a
curriculum vitae is also written and used so as to apply for a job post and to be called for an interview.
Hence each one’s presence is because of the other.

Secondly, an interview process prove the skills of an applicant from his or her Curriculum Vitae (CV);
the connection between these two comes to an agenda of proving skills of an applicant in his or her
Curriculum Vitae through the Interview process, that is an applicant’s CV shows academic achievements,
work experience, various personal skills. In order for an employee to prove this skills written in the CV,
through the interview process the employee proves communication skills, attitude, and body language and
proves the academic achievements through the level of answering the questions.

Thirdly, the connection between a curriculum vitae (CV) and an Interview process is there is supposed to
be different CV’s for different Interviews as well as job posts i.e. an applicant should prepare different
CV for different and various job post interviews, for example; a CV for a Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
and a CV for a production manager or Human resources manager or a chief accountant should be
different because mainly they are different job posts, this definitely shows how an interview process
associates with a CV.
