Hazards: Risk Assessment and Control Information Sheet

STEP 1: INFORMATION
i. Smooth, greasy, or damp surfaces make objects slippery, making them challenging to hold or walk
on. A floor may be slippery for a variety of reasons, but one of the most frequent is that it has not
been cleaned well. By effectively cleaning the floor with the right tools, chemicals, and equipment,
many slip-and-fall risks can be removed.
ii. Given the age of many public and private schools, rehabilitation projects frequently require the
removal of hazardous materials. Inspection of existing systems and hazardous chemicals is closely
monitored, and cleanup work is finished without polluting the building. All tradespeople are taught
to identify these risks in the event that demolition work turns up contamination where it was not
anticipated.
iii. Parasites that can infect humans can be carried by animals. At the location of the bite or scratch, a
slight infection could develop. Additionally, cats in particular are known to have the parasite
Toxoplasma gondii, which can enter the brain and result in the disease toxoplasmosis. Immune
systems that have been damaged make people more susceptible to this.
iv. Carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, and methane are some of the harmful gases in waste-contaminated
air. Bad scents, which are typically produced by decaying and liquid waste materials, help us
recognize contaminated air in daily life. Additionally, garbage cans have a tendency to collect little
amounts of water from the rain or the trash, which attracts mosquitoes. Mosquitoes thrive in dim,
moist environments. The simplest strategy to avoid an infestation in your garbage can is to keep
standing water from building up there.

cause property damage, injury, or other health effects is considered a hazard.
