Directions - Answer the following questions:

1. Once you’ve made a selection, what area of the image can be edited?

Once you’ve made a selection, the only the area within an active selection can be edited.

2. How do you add to and subtract from a selection when using a tool such as the Quick
Selection tool?

To add a selection, click the Add To Selection button in the options bar, then click the region
you wish to add. To subtract a selection, click the Subtract from Selection button in the options
bar then click the region you want to remove from the selection.

3. How can you move a selection while you’re creating it?

As you make a selection, keep pressing the mouse button while holding down the spacebar
and dragging to relocate it.

4. What does the Quick Selection tool do?

The Quick Selection tool automatically locates and follows predefined edges in the image by
expanding, outward from where you click.

5. How does the Magic Wand tool determine which areas of an image to select? What is
tolerance, and how does it affect a selection?

Based on how close their colors are, similar pixels are chosen using the Magic Wand Tool.
The number of color tones that the Magic Wand Tool will pic from is determined by the
tolerance value. There are more tones available the greater the tolerance setting.
