LìI Mî ĐÄU
Mình rất vui vì các bạn đã đón nhận các phiên bản đầu tiên của cuốn <Hướng dẫn viết câu
IELTS writing= phiên bản 2017 và 2019. Trong phiên bản lần này, mình tiếp tục cập nhật
một số chủ đề và chỉnh sửa lại một số ví dụ cũ để đảm bảo tính chính xác cao nhất có thể.
Trong thời gian từ giờ đến cuối năm 2020, mình sẽ cố gắng dành thời gian cập nhật thêm để
phiên bản này hoàn chỉnh hơn nữa. Hy vọng tài liệu sẽ tiếp tục có ích với nhiều bạn đang
học tiếng Anh nói chung và học viết cho kỳ thi IELTS nói riêng.

Cá nhân mình công nhận là viÁt đưÿc 1 bài hoàn thiÉn nhìn cũng thích và có thêm động lực
đÅ viÁt tiÁp. Tuy nhiên thì cãt lõi của viÉc viÁt theo mình vẫn nên là viÃt câu. Khi b¿n viÁt
đưÿc một câu rõ nghĩa, h¿n chÃ tái đa lçi ngÿ pháp thì mßi thực sự là tiÁn bộ vÃ writing.
Một trong những cách cÁi thiÉn chất lưÿng câu là tập diÇn đ¿t câu tÿ tiÁng ViÉt. Tất nhiên,
khuyÁn khích b¿n nên tìm ai đó chữa câu cho b¿n đÅ biÁt mình đang sai ã đâu. Đây cũng là
viÉc mình thưáng xuyên phÁi làm vßi các b¿n hßc sinh của mình: Chÿa tćng câu cho các
b¿n Ãy cho đÃn khi “s¿ch bóng‟ các lçi c¢ bÁn, câu đÁm bÁo tính rõ ràng, nÁu có lái thì
chỉ là các lái khó phát hiÉn vd như quán tÿ a/an/the.
CHÚ Ý
1- NhiÃu câu đưÿc viÁt trên cơ sã diÇn đ¿t tÿ ý tiÁng ViÉt, nhưng mình nghĩ là b¿n nào
đßc kỹ s¿ thu đưÿc chút gì đó. Hy vßng là có một sã lưÿng tương đãi b¿n ủng hộ đÅ mình
có thêm động lực update tài liÉu này và chia sẻ vßi mßi ngưái.
2- Một sã b¿n hiÅu lầm viÉc diÇn đ¿t bằng tiÁng ViÉt là tư duy bằng tiÁng ViÉt. Thực ra thì
đây chỉ là phương pháp hßc thôi. Trong quá trình viÁt, mình vẫn thưáng bắt các b¿n hßc
sinh viÁt theo lãi <Tây= nhất có thÅ, tránh bị Ánh hưãng bãi viÉc dịch các cấu trúc trong
tiÁng ViÉt. Và kÁt quÁ là các b¿n hßc viên của mình tiÁn bộ rõ rÉt sau khoÁng 5 bußi hßc
viÁt câu.
3- Một sã câu mình viÁt theo 2 cách khác nhau. Đôi khi câu dÏch nghĩa sÁc thái ý nghĩa
có thÇ h¢i khác câu gác, nhưng mình vẫn giữ l¿i các câu đó đÅ mßi ngưái tham khÁo.

03 – MèT VÀI CÂU DÎCH ĐIÆN HÌNH VÀ

PHÂN TÍCH LæI TH¯ìNG G¾P
1. NhiÅu hßc sinh th°íng g¿p khó khăn khi tìm viËc làm sau khi tát nghiËp
Một sã b¿n có thÅ dịch là: Many students often meet difficulty after they graduate (*). Câu
này sai vì cụm từ <meet difficulty‟ không tồn tại
Thứ hai nữa là cách nói after they graduate làm câu dài hơn vì đây là 1 mệnh đề phụ. Thay
vào đó, nên dùng các cụm từ như <after graduation= hoặc hay hơn: thay chủ ngữ bằng cụm
từ <university graduates= là cách nói mà người Anh bản địa thường dùng.
Many students often have difficulty getting a job after graduation

Rất nhiÃu b¿n khi dịch vẫn thêm chữ <if= vào trong khi không thật sự cần thiÁt. Thêm chữ
if vào tức là thêm 1 mÉnh đÃ phā. Trong khi đó, chỉ cần dùng cấu trúc It + (be) + adj
+ for smb + to V. Tÿ <if= nÁu thêm vào thì chỉ có <tác dāng= là làm câu dài thêm và khó
đßc hơn.

Thay vì viÉc viÁt mÉnh đÃ phā <when they reach five years of age=, ta có thÅ sā dāng cām
<at the age of five=. Như vậy câu viÁt trông s¿ đơn giÁn và rõ ràng hơn rất nhiÃu.
In my view, it would be better for children to start school at the age of five.
4. Không dÉ cho đa sá các b¿n tr¿ khi tìm viËc làm ï các thành phá lën
Một lần nữa ta có thÅ áp dāng cấu trúc It + (be) + adj + for smb + to V

06- CÁCH VIÂT TOPIC SENTENCE
Topic Sentence là câu tóm lưÿc ý chính của đo¿n văn. Khi viÁt câu này cần/nên đÁm bÁo
các tiêu chí: Ngắn gßn - Tßng quát ý - Rõ ràng.
Ví dā 1 paragraph vÃ lÿi ích của viÉc chơi thÅ thao. Có thÅ viÁt topic sentence theo một
sã cách như sau:

Tuy nhiên, có một sã cách diÇn đ¿t nữa cho các tÿ này mà các b¿n có thÅ cân nhắc. Một

Khi nói đÁn các mãi quan hÉ, nhiÃu b¿n có thÅ s¿ nghĩ ngay đÁn tÿ relationship. Ho¿c khi
nói đÁn gia đình và b¿n bè, tất nhiên đa sã các b¿n s¿ nghĩ đÁn tÿ family and friends. Tuy
nhiên, có một tÿ mà các b¿n Tây rất hay sā dāng đÅ nói vÃ các mãi quan hÉ đó là CIRCLE.

13 – ĐèNG TĆ KHUYÂT THIÂU (MODAL VERBS)
ĐÅ đ¿t điÅm tãt trong phần thi viÁt (6.5-7.0) thì nên cã gắng nắm chắc ngữ pháp, thay vì
cã gắng sā dāng các cấu trúc cao siêu. Một sã phần kiÁn thức mà không nhiÃu b¿n đÅ ý
đÁn, trong đó có động tÿ khuyÁt thiÁu (Modal verbs).
1. WILL
-ĐiÃu mà b¿n sắp sāa làm (intention)
In this essay, I will outline three measures that can be taken to make our world a

- ĐiÃu gì đó mà b¿n nghĩ là chắc chắn xÁy ra

Thực tÁ là không hẳn trẻ em nào làm viÉc chăm chỉ cũng s¿ thành công. Nên viÁt là:

-> Chỉ nên dùng WILL khi nào b¿n thấy điÃu đó chắc chắn xÁy ra.

Ngưÿc l¿i, nÁu b¿n nào quá cẩn thận và viÁt <Recycling can benefit the environment= thì có
thÅ gây khó hiÅu cho ngưái đßc vì đây là điÃu hoàn toàn hiÅn nhiên.
2. MUST: ĐiÃu gì đó cần thiÁt phÁi làm

ho¿c cao hơn lúc đầu.
