DRAW ME NEARER

I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice, Help me then, in every tribulation,
And it told Thy love to me; So to trust Thy promises, O Lord,
But I long to rise in the arms of faith, That I lose not faith’s sweet consolation,
And be closer drawn to Thee. Offered me within Thy holy Word.
Help me, Lord, when toil and trouble meeting,
Refrain: E’er to take, as from a father’s hand,
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord, One by one, the days, the moments fleeting,
To the cross where Thou hast died; Till with Christ the Lord I stand.
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side. HOW FIRM A FOUNDATION
How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord,
Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord, Is laid for your faith in His excellent word!
By the pow’r of grace divine; What more can He say than to you He hath said,
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope, To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled?
And my will be lost in Thine. [Refrain]
“Fear not, I am with thee, O be not dismayed,
Oh, the pure delight of a single hour For I am thy God, and will still give thee aid;
That before Thy throne I spend, I’ll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God, stand,
I commune as friend with friend! [Refrain] Upheld by My righteous, omnipotent hand.”

There are depths of love that I cannot know “When through the deep waters I call thee to go,
Till I cross the narrow sea; The rivers of sorrow shall not overflow;
There are heights of joy that I may not reach For I will be with thee, thy troubles to bless,
Till I rest in peace with Thee. [Refrain] And sanctify to thee thy deepest distress.”

DAY BY DAY “When through fiery trials thy pathway shall lie,
Day by day, and with each passing moment, My grace, all sufficient, shall be thy supply;
Strength I find to meet my trials here; The flame shall not hurt thee; I only design
Trusting in my Father’s wise bestowment, Thy dross to consume, and thy gold to refine.”
I’ve no cause for worry or for fear.
He, whose heart is kind beyond all measure, “E’en down to old age all My people shall prove
Gives unto each day what He deems best, My sovereign, eternal, unchangeable love;
Lovingly its part of pain and pleasure, And then, when grey hairs shall their temples
Mingling toil with peace and rest. adorn,
Like lambs they shall still in My bosom be borne.”
Every day the Lord Himself is near me,
With a special mercy for each hour; “The soul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose,
All my cares He fain would bear and cheer me, I will not, I will not desert to his foes;
He whose name is Counsellor and Pow’r. That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,
The protection of His child and treasure I’ll never, no, never, no, never forsake!”
Is a charge that on Himself He laid;
“As thy days, thy strength shall be in measure,”
This the pledge to me He made.
