Dear Parents/Guardians,

I would like to bring the following announcements to your attention:

Fundraiser in Aid of Cahercalla Hospice:

Pupils at Kilkishen N.S. received a wonderful

photo frame and message from the residents and
staff at Cahercalla Hospice on Friday November
18. This framed message and treats were a “Thank
You” from all at Cahercalla Hospice for everyone
that supported the recent Halloween fundraiser.
We are delighted to support this worthy cause.
Our framed message will hang proudly on our
school hallway.

Carol Singing: Our school Christmas choir, coordinated by Ms. Amy McNamara, have been invited to sing
at this year’s Senior Citizens Christmas Lunch on Sunday December 4 starting at 1:30pm. Pupils from 1st
to 6th class that are available are asked to be at Kilkishen Cultural Centre from 1:20pm. We look forward to
a festive occasion and an afternoon full of cheer and goodwill.

Trip to Carrigoran House: Pupils from 1st to 6th class will travel by bus to Carrigoran House on Friday
December 9 and perform for the residents at Carrigoran House. We are delighted to get the opportunity to
perform for the residents and look forward to bringing some Christmas atmosphere to the staff and residents.
1st to 3rd class pupils will perform from 11 am and 4th to 6th class pupils will perform from 12 noon.
Intel Mini Scientist Competition:

Well done to Béibhinn and Molly who represented

Kilkishen N.S. at the Mini-Scientist Regional
Final. Intel Shannon brought together students
from 19 different schools in Clare, Limerick,
Tipperary and Galway. The girls showcased their
fantastic project and the judges were so impressed
with their demonstrations, their folder and their
visual displays. We are so proud of Béibhinn and
Molly and all the pupils in Kilkishen N.S. who
entered the school science fair.

Parent Teacher Meetings: Annual parent teacher meetings continue for pupils in Senior Infants, 2 nd, 4th
and 6th classes next week. Meetings will take place by phone. Should any parent wish to have a meeting in
person this will be facilitated. Times and dates for your child’s parent teacher meetings have been sent
home.

Lunch Bag: Information on how to order school lunches is available on the school flyers for any parents
that wish to avail of this service.
Winter Hurling and Camogie League Update: The opening 2 rounds of the 4th -6th classes Winter Hurling
and Camogie League are now completed. The final round of matches takes place every lunch time next
week to establish the Cup and Shield semi-finalists. 49 pupils and 8 teams from 4th, 5th and 6th classes are
taking part. Our school Finals Day will take place on Wednesday December 21. We have had some great
matches and thrilling action so far and are looking forward to the final stages of the league.

Clare Haven Christmas Appeal: The Parents Association Committee is supporting the annual Christmas
Appeal for Clare Haven again this year. Families can donate individual items or a wrapped shoebox with
items such as socks, hats, dolls, action figures, Lego, art sets, board games, make up or toiletry sets (all
items must be new) and mark whatever age it would be suited to. All donations can be brought to school on
or before Monday 12th December and will be delivered to Clare Haven. Your support is greatly
appreciated.

Christmas Performances: All classes this term are busily preparing to perform a Christmas play which will
be recorded and available on our school website before the Christmas holidays. Pupils in Junior Infants to
Second Class are travelling to Glór in Ennis on December 7 to watch “Whistle Blasts Winter Wonderland”.
A bus will leave at 10:30am and we hope all the pupils enjoy the show.

Swimming Lessons Return in 2023: Pupils from 3rd to 6th classes will recommence swimming lessons at
Ennis Lesiureplex every Tuesday starting on January 10 for 7 sessions. Details to follow closer the time
School closes on December 21 at 12noon for Christmas Holidays and reopens on Thursday January 5
2023.
