Commission

• A commission is a group of people entrusted by the government to


implement a specific task or objective.
• It can either be long-term or specified to carry out a short-term
objective.
• Long-term commissions are called permanent commissions.
• Those commissions mandated to carry out a specific task are called
ad-hoc commissions.

• Central Information Commission (CIC) – 2005


• To receive and inquire into complaints from aggrieved persons

• Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) – 1964


• To address and probe offences by Central Government officers,
officers of societies, corporation, and local authority under the
Central Government
