Literacy development is the process a child takes in learning letters and
words, sounds, comprehension of written language and in identifying
pictures and objects. Home is where development should start as the
emergent literacy of a child takes place. Emergent literacy is the earliest
stage of literacy, it is the child’s initial use of language and
communications skills as the foundation for reading and writing. In this
stage they start to recognize pictures and learn basic words this stage
requires parents to be their first guidance for the child to be able to
understand and put courage in having a positive attitudes in learning
however, the one that most plays a big role in developing this literary
skills is the Schools and the educators within it. Educators and the
Schools are all ready, well prepared to assist, guide and help their
learners as there are a lot of teaching strategies prepared by them to
fully equip their learner in the future.

As I go through reading and understanding I realized that Educators who

truly knows their students as learners are the most who understand the
pathway and the progress the child’s currently at. From the moment
they are just starting to learn word and letters up to finally reading loud
different text and stories. With that, I found out that Literacy can only be
described as truly effective when it is positively impacts students
learning and this can positively happen through different strategies or
teaching resources strategies for their emergent literary skills
development used by the teachers to meet the diverse learning needs of
their students. When I soon become a teacher, I want to be a teacher
with lots of teaching resources or should I say teacher made resources, I
wont be focusing on just lecturing my students, I want to conduct a lot
or make teaching materials and supplies for me to have them many
educational activities that would make the lessons interesting and make
practical experiences to them but of course this all should be align to my
intended student learning outcome.

To sum it all what dominant for me is that Literacy development is of

essential importance to life. With this, many can go outside confidently
with their knowledge and they will carry the idea of still loving to learn,
that literacy on them continue to lies on.
