The topic comprises reading skills and how will be the teacher’s learning
resources be a guide to child’s reading journey. The topic pointing out
that Reading is the foundation of education and a child’s educational
Journey. Learning to read is one of the most important skill children can
learn therefore as they take their journey in learning to read it is a must
to keep in mind the five (5) essential components of reading for them
to confidently grow and be a fluent reader. Here are the 5 essential
components of reading first is the (1) Phonemics awareness that talks
about the ability of a child to hear, identify and manipulate these
individual unit of sounds (2) Phonics, one of the earliest reading skills
children should develop because it introduces them to link between
letters and sounds known as the alphabetic principle. (3) Fluency enables
readers to quickly span the gap between recognizing a word and
understanding its meaning. (4) Vocabulary, having an ever-increasing
vocabulary is a fundamental part of academic and reading success. The
more words they know, the better they become at reading and
understanding the text that they read (5) Reading comprehension, Great
readers are deeply immersed in the story they read as they visualize and
share the emotional journey of the characters, they hear the dialogue in
their heads and they think about what is happening in a story.

In my own point of view on this topic, poor reading comes with a poor
learning which I certainly agreed on. I know that education starts at
home, with parents, but I cannot put the blame on them since i don’t
know how they managed their living and having a child to teach with
that and those, that’s why many parents are rooting to teachers for their
children’s education since they cannot fully managed at home. In this
situation, Educators or the teaching strategies here matters the most.
The five component mentioned above is a step educators could take in
order for the child be an effective or successful reader. I believe that
those five are working hand in hand and that teacher will be the one to
facilitate it to learners. Nothing will be much more effective than having
a lot of strategies to help students to love reading, I want to add up in
this reading phase that educators here including me in the future,
should have a long patience in their learner. For their teaching resources
that can help them, they can use variety of reading materials, like
alphabet books, use of songs or rhyming books, poetry and stories and a
lot more. Going back to my reaction about poor reading comes with a
poor learning, teachers held responsibility on this but the one that takes
more accountability on learning still goes back the learner.
